My Father and I had a great time at our first GSW event. Below is a link to the pictures I took on Poison Spider/Golden Spike/Gold Bar Rim & Hell's Revenege.

I have over 100 pictures that are being upload as I am typing this.

As Kevin mentioned at the dinner I will be taking a stab a producing a Video for this year's event. Please watch for another post about the video.

Thanks for a great event.

Yeah, it was awesome. I got 30+ MPG, made record time getting there and home, AND got to drive on the trail. You guys make it too easy for me, LOL. I even got chauffered around by Kory K. from Portland on Friday...no effort required. Seriously, though, I decided to ditch my ZJ this year, as I discovered at the last minute that it was going to require more effort than I felt that I could safely put in at the last minute and still have it trustworthy on the trail. A VERY large thank you to Cody for loaning his "new" ZJ to me on Saturday. I don't even think he had a chance to wheel it before he gave it to me to take out. Now THAT'S a real friend!!

Hey Stan,
What software are you using on your server for the thumbs??

I'm using an old version of PhotoShop, but I think the newer ones do the same (if not nicer) - go to "file" then "automate" and then "web photo gallery" and you can tweak the settings to specify the thumb size, etc. so that all you have to do is slap on a label and specify source and destination folders. Then I just ftp (just a simple drag-and-drop in my case, I don't use an editor or ftp program) the folders to the server.

Sweet, I'll have to give that a whirl. I'm still trying to find a good software program to eliminate the old school directories on my server. Can a folder on the server be "retro-fit" with this or do I have to do it from the get go?

Yeah, it doesn't look as nice as when I was cutting-and-pasting code, but it is SO much faster!!

Hmm. I may have to defer that one to the more tech-savvy folks out there, especially if you are using something other than notepad. The way I do it is I throw all the pics into a folder that I've created on the desktop and then upload that folder to the server. If I have some pics of more than one trip to a particular trail, then I make sub-folders. . .and if I want to avoid going through and repairing all the links, I leave the original pics in that folder, and put the more recent ones in that same folder but in subfolders. A little sloppy, but it works! :D

Your looking for crash 80. I am the other Ron. Hey man, any how it was nice to have met and wheeled with you guys. I was thinking of ya while I drove home- That's why I called ya to see if you wanted to hit the Rubicon!
While I was driving past the exit for the Rubicon, I could'nt help think about how cool it would have been to stop and hit the trail on the way home.
Moab & Rubicon all in the same week- That would have been SWEEEEEEEET!

Might be a stupid question but did you guys run Rusty Nail backwards? I could have swore we came from the other direction at EJS....... Sucks that I didn't get any pics of my ZJ and the scrambler doing rusty nail. Looks like you guys had a blast!!!!!!!!!!!

SCAMPER ZJ
06-16-2006, 11:18 PM
. . .did you guys run Rusty Nail backwards?

Actually, we did run it forwards, but I came back to give a winch assist to a ZJ up the obstacle pictured above (that's why I'm facing the wrong direction). Anyway, after coming back down a ways, I realized I hadn't left much room for him to land, so I started to back up. I was having a tough time getting one of my rear tires up a ledge, so I nudged the gas a little - the rear unloaded so quickly, I almost certainly would have gone over if it wasn't for the rock on the right (and the finger of God)!!! Ron ended up coming back too to serve as an anchor (not only to get me back on all 4, but so that we could winch the other ZJ up).

wheelnzj
06-16-2006, 11:49 PM
Yes, I have to agree with Stan. Cody and I were backing him up when it unloaded and spring right up. It all happened so fast, but it made for a great photo.
Stan- I too have the same problem with my check engine light coming on sometimes. I have replaced several sensors, But sometimes I have to D.C. my battery and try to reset the computer.
It all started when I had a Jet Chip that one day for no reason, just fried! I mean burned up!
They gave me my money back, but ever since I have had elec. problems.
Stan let me know what you find out with yours.
Thanks,
Ron

I just ordered 52 of the pictures from your album...we got some awesome shots! I also ordered a blown up picture of one that you took of my rig on "no left turn."
The pics of Stan's rig almost rolling turned out awesome...and everyone thought I was nuts suggesting that we leave him there for a minute to get some good pics. :flipoff2:

We showed my buddy the video of his superduty on Lion's Back and he took it pretty well...I think he was more jealous than anything that his truck has gone up lion's back and he hasn't. Unfortunately though he discovered after I returned the truck that BOTH of his rear spring packs had a broken leaf...gay. He's still bitching now though that the truck has a rattle that it never did before.

They were probably broken already or well on their way there. As you know, that truck did (we assume) some heavy towing being that it had a fifth wheel when he got it. Not to mention the fact that he beats the snot out of it and drives it as if it's a Corvette. Still, you'll never hear the end of that one....

WTF was he doing welding with no goggles

He has a hand held sheild, like the ones that come with the lower cost welding kits. Actually it is better than the googles I carry as it protects the face as well as the eyes. Either is better than two or three pair of sun glasses though...

I DEFINITELY thought you were nuts, but I'm glad we got the pics! :D

BTW, I was looking through some of the pics that were snapped off right when it happened, and saw that you were immediately there to make sure I didn't go over. I appreciate everyone helping me out, it felt terribly precarious up there!!

What is it with people taking pictures of Kris peeing????

The rooster on Dump Bump is badass though!

Where was the car-b-q?

The pic of Kris is just carrying on the tradition. The car-b-que was the family that me and Kris saved in Oregan. There car caught fire and we pulled over to assist. I busted the windows open with my head and saved 8 children and 3 adults while Kris sleighed the fire with nothing more than his bare hands. Badass.
