I thought you got that done last weekend. :D

Got the brackets in, but not the arms. Still need to weld on the rear truss and do a few minor tweaks and she'll be good to go suspension wise. Most of the other bigger stuff is done too. Outside of long arms, it's just little stuff like re-wiring rock lights and a new front diff cover.

I ran Twin Cone, Webster, and Red Cone last weekend. Surprisingly, Twin Cone is open all the way to the top. Webster is open about half way from the 285 side and Red Cone about 1/4 of the way., still has 3 foot snow drifts. Plowed through a few of them, but just got too deep. Just letting you know that alot of the higher elevation trails are still snowed in.

I was at Georgia Pass last weekend and that was snowed in pretty good too.

I know you posted about CO John, but I'll be in Moab this weekend and your always welcome to hang out with us if you feel like making the drive.

The only downside is that availability of hotel rooms right now is very tight.

First you should post in the chit chat section and introduce yourself so you get the normal flack all newbs get....

Then just keep checkin boards like this and go on a run that you think you could do or start a run of your own! Its easy to get people to go wheelin.. Also you should be checkin out colorado4x4.org for more CO specific offroad stuff and look through 4x4trails.net to get a good idea of the different trails we have access too out here in the CO.

John, I'll probably be able to go run something with you this weekend.. My dad wants to run Bill Moore or something closer Saturday if you want. What else were you thinkin of running?

Mike, I'm up for anything, so Bill Moore Lake is cool. I need to get some trails in this weekend, I haven't done any wheeling since Feb, going through withdrawl. I took the LTB's to Discount Tire to get them siped. Does that count as Mall Wheeling?:D

I bet Bill more is just like it was last year. Maybe snowed in but definitely muddy as hell at the mud hole.

A few people on the jeepforum are doing Twin Cone on Mon. How about that?

Hummm? I think I might go down to Daves on Sun.

Sat. I don't know. I know I won't go near Spring Creek. I'd like to spend the day wheeling. Not waiting in line, laughing & shaking my head.

I think we should do Bill Moore on Saturday... its been warmer than last year too I think. What about 10am meet at El Rancho?

JohnBoulderCO
05-25-2006, 08:27 PM
Sounds good. Where is El Rancho? Was that the eating place in Evergreen, we met there once before, across from the gas station?

zjmike4
05-25-2006, 11:33 PM
yeah exactly we met there a few times i think last summer, i-70 to evergreen parkway exit. El Rancho is the restaurant on the far right corner at the first light right after you exit. I'll try to get there early so you will see us.

I might do a early run up Slaughterhouse on Sunday. I know several people who are meeting at the Conoco at 9 or 9:30. I want to run it to check out my set up before Moab but be back in town to help Dave out Sunday afternoon. Not sure yet if I am going but I know there will be people there from Colorado 4x4 meeting there on Sunday at that time. The guy in a Black Amigo or locomigo (keith) will be there for sure. He works with me.

I might be up for it if we get back early afternoon. Maybe I would rather do that than Slaughterhouse on Sunday. I need to mill it over a bit.

Scott C, I just saw your post about the front shock. I have an extra in the Jeep, but it's prob too late now.

JohnBoulderCO

Sunday: I'm gonna do St. Vrain tomorrow afternoon.

Scott C, if you want my shock tomorrow, let me know.

Monday: At the momemnt, open to anything.

I agree with Scott for Monday lets meet at the Fort early enough to leave by 8:15 to run Twin Cone on Monday. I want to beat the crowds home and still have enough time to BBQ.

JohnBoulderCO

Just got home from a Bill Moore and Spring Creek run. We didn't get far on Bill Moore, ran into a snow drift near the top. We made it all the way on Spring Creek. A little crowded, but not too bad.

Nope, I think we had 8 jeeps and nobody brought a camera. fun times though. The Poison spider customs owner was there with his custom brusier chasis jeep.

Twin Cone today the 29th. 8:00 am at the Fort!!!!!!!!!!!! Leaving by 8:15 or so. There is a group meeting at safeway up at Conifer at 9:00. Snotty, Al & a few others are meeting in Grant to have breakfast at 9:00.

St. Vrain was still gated yesterday afternoon. :(
Several of us standing in front of the gate, thinking why? No snow, no water on the trail....I think they wait until June 1st, oh well.

John, thanks for the offer, I'm going to have Bob do a repair on it I think. I ended up drilling out the top to try and repair it, ripped right off. Oh well, easy fix.

JohnBoulderCO
05-29-2006, 10:21 PM
Scott, If Bob can weld it, it should hold fine. If not, I have a shock. It is 26" long fully extended, eye to eye type mounts. Not sure if that is too long for you.

Here are a few. I went back up on Monday, brought a friend in his new FJ!

You should have come with us up to Twin Cone. Had fun & was able to give a "How to swap front axle shafts on a D30" after we got done with the trail.

Start with this page for the trip report. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=203386&page=190

I also popped my first bead dropping off a big rock. Ohhhhhh the power of Co2.:D I was rolling again in 5 minutes.:) Even had the tire aired back up before Keith & a couple others rolled up to the back of us.

Scott, we didn't even start the trail until 2:30pm! It was a last minute, "Let's take the new FJ wheeling" thing.

Colorado 5.9

So how'd it do? I'd think he wouldn't take it up too far on SC.

JohnBoulderCO
05-31-2006, 07:26 PM
We ran the trail from Georgetown, which you see below in the pic, to the top of Spring Creek. I then drove down through the rock garden, turned around and drove back up. He left his FJ at the top of the trail, then we drove back down through Idaho Springs. The FJ has traction, it has a rear locker, but the lack of clearance kept him out of the rock garden. We met a guy in an XJ that just finished replacing a broken axle in his D35.

People are already lifting the FJ's Sleeoffroad.com has pics.

After spending 30+ minutes airing up in Idaho Springs, second time in 3 days, I placed an order with Formatt to get a CO2 tank.

You won't be disappointed with that setup John! Did you go with the 10 or 20lb? I've got a 20 and LOVE IT.

JohnBoulderCO

Dave, I went with the 10lb. I wasn't sure if I could get the 20lb mounted in a good spot.
