I decided to take down my other thread and start over again. When I first got the ZJ I was a lil crazy in wanting to build it big. Instead I'm gonna start small and work my way up.
So here it goes from stock to it's current state.
When I first got it about 8-9 months ago it was a totally stock 94 Laredo in mint condition. First thing I did was put some 30x9.5 BFG ATs and TJ rims on it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/G2Rac/100_0010small.jpg

I started off roading it about a month after I got it. Most the stuff I did was mud pits, rutty trails, water crossings and stuck a few times. Not too much else around these areas sadly.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/G2Rac/Krawlerz%20Jan%201%202006%20Run/100_0004.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/G2Rac/zjstuck.jpg

After a lot of jumping around with what I wanted to do with the ZJ, long arm, axle swaps, etc. I decided to just keep it simple for now with a F>R swap.

So fact forward to now, ZJ is still at stock height but the lift is happening the beginning of May.
I'm using RE 3.5" springs, KOR Track Bar Conversion, RE Track Bar Bracket in the rear and Skycrapper shocks (they are cheap so...). Going to stuff some 33x12.50 Pro Comp X-Terrians under it. I'm just waiting on my springs and the track bar conversion and then up she goes.

A few pics of how she sits right now, sorry for the poser pics but it's the only recent pics I have as I forgot my camera before hitting the trails today.

Currently running:
30x9.50R15 BFG AT KOs on TJ Rims
Hella 500 Fogs
CB Radio
No Front Bumper

Lift will be happening very soon I hope.
Comments, flames, opinions, all welcome.

He's fairly deep into his Scout II D44 swaps and SOA converion on his CJ right now. I know he would love a 360 but it's the coin thing.

One of the members on our local forum posted pics from yesterday's event. Our club was doing security so I didn't get to play too much that and there was a lot of mud, too much mud almost.

First off let me say a BIG thank you Andy (Andy_Smash) for his hard work through out the day helping lift this thing.
Also to anyone working on your rig on a lazt Saturday or Sunday afternoon I remind you to keep an eye on your fluid levels.

The Front to Rear swap was the best thing I have done to my ZJ. Still handles good (more roll cause my sway bar isn't hooked up), no death wobble at all.

is that a trackbar bracket i see? :smt067

I'm still running the stock track bars. Don't worry Puma I'm returning the RE bracket to get my money back. Next upgrade will be to a KOR front bar and JKS rear bar.
My only problem with it as it sits right now is it looks funny as hell on 30s. I really need my 33s. Trying to work it out with my parents to bring them back with them when they go to my cousin's place this weekend. However they are taking my mom's 04 Tracker and I'm not sure if they'll be able to stuff them all in lol.

Since the 33s will be here on Sunday I decided I might as well trim the fenders now to make room for them.
I need to get some door edge molding to go over the cuts and some seam sealer for the rear to close the gap but other then that it looks good.

Marking for death
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/G2Rac/Build%201/trim002.jpg

Andy cleaning some mud out of the fender and then manning the sawall to trim the sheet metal away. Kicked up an ungodly amount of dirt/dust when using the sawzall on my fenders.

I haven't had a chance to get on any trails since the lift so I decided to take it to a really easy trail around my house. Nothing special really just a big hill.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/G2Rac/Build%201/testing001.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/G2Rac/Build%201/testing002.jpg

Going up that part was easy, coming down was another story.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/G2Rac/Build%201/testing003.jpg

I got another 5ft after Andy took this picture and the the ZJ went to the side. I was about a inch away from flopping it over and once I got down Andy told me the passenger side front tire was just hanging out in the air :o I felt it starting to tip so I turned the wheel, put it in reverse and back away before something bad happened. I took the easy way down.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/G2Rac/Build%201/testing004.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/G2Rac/Build%201/testing005.jpg

I have honestly never been so bloody scared as I was in that situation, I was a hair away from shitting myself. Thankfully I was able to get out of it and not flop my ZJ....yet.

sweeeeeet. I would've started off with a cutoff wheels when chopping the fenders. Sawzalls are annoying and hard to cut anything with precision.

30 min later, 3 tow straps, a snatch block and a winch later I was finally out. I tried to back up off the trail to get some water out my interior but it wouldn't steer, hmmm. My cousin draws my attention to this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/G2Rac/Mounds%20ORV%20June%209%202006/100_0100.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/G2Rac/Mounds%20ORV%20June%209%202006/101_0102.jpg

My cousin, leaves to go to Jeep Outfitters and get Jerrod (the owner) to give him a tie rod and drag link. Jerrod did, at no cost. Real nice of him. However my cousin had to call his dad to give him a ride back to the trail because his engine developed some BAD rod knock.
So we got the new rod on and left the ORV. We got about 200ft down the road and my water pump blew.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/G2Rac/Mounds%20ORV%20June%209%202006/101_0106.jpg
AAA refused to tow me because of my lift and bigger tires. So we went back to visit Jerrod again and borrowed his trailer. Never though I'd see my ZJ on a trailer now.

Got it all fixed up though. We left to come back home at 10am today. We got home at 7pm. The ZJ kept boiling over for some reason that I wasn't sure of.
Got to M24 and I69 and went into the Jeep dealer. One of the techs there, Kirk, took a look at it and thought 'hmmm hose off the rad cause it's packed full of shit....' Needless to stay that fixed the problem and I left like a moron.
Got it to just between Ingersol and Woodstock (bout 2hrs or 115km from home) and my start quit on me. Call CAA and got towed home so gotta get a starter in it tomorrow.

All and all it was a very fun and fustrating weekend and I'm glad to be home.

I'm also ordering a rebuild kit for my AX-15 transmission, since it's got 300k kms on it I figure new seals, bearings, hubs and snyrcos can't hurt. The NP231J attached to it will get a JB conversion rebuild kit as well. Along with getting a new OEM chain and a JB HD super short SYE.

This should keep me busy for the next lil bit.

I haven't wheeled too much this summer which is kind of a piss off but with my cousin having blown his engine, all my good trip got cancelled. So I've been doing the odd lil run here and there.

Ordered an Ausse Locker for my d30 and now I'm looking for a 8.8 to put out back so I can be locked front and rear.
Also putting the trans in at the end of the month.

your supposedly losing gas milage with that gas cover off, unless you specially bought that or something...but the gas evaporates out if the cover isn't on.

Besides a cracked header, shot o2 sensor and 3.55 gearing on 33s makes for shit gas mileage ago.

Put my Aussie Locker in the D30 this past Friday. Had the whole front end apart in about a half hour, I'm way to use to pulling the shafts out now hah.
Installation was overly simple and I'm glad to be able to say I installed my own locker. I have no pics from the install (my camera is in Ireland with my parents) and I'm waiting on pics from a friend.

I got to test the locker out on the trail over the weekend. As a result of the one mud hole I did (coated my interior too) I'm not swearing off mud, it's messy and boring. Hit some wash outs which where a friggin blast, this isn't even the biggest wash out. Never got to the big one because my buddy's CJ only had 3 wheel drive on account of a buggered up hub.
Anyhow enough talking, here's pics of me in the wash out.

Wow, someone gave me this link while I was researching putting 33x12.5's on my ZJ. Looks like I've basically been planning on cloning your truck lol. Couple quick questions for you, how much rubbing did you get with the 3.5" lift and the 33's? I have a set of 33x12.5's on black steelies with a 4" bs (like I said, cloning lol) I also have a 3.5" pro comp lift. I was debating using that and trimming away, or, I also have a set of teraflex spacers. I like the look of yours, just wondering what you lost for turning radius and if you had any more sheetmetal rubbing with what you trimmed. I'd love some input from someone who's already done it. Thanks, I appreciate the help

I rubbed at FULL stuff in the rear. The front I always rubbed because I had no bump stops. Just trim and run the wheels.

As for turning radius it wasn't that bad imo.

As for turning radius it wasn't that bad imo.Eh, at full stuff? I can tolerate that. And I would imagine more lift won't make a difference on turning radius cause either way you'd catch the control arm correct? I was mainly just worried about being able to "massage" the pinch weld out of the way enough to still keep my turning.
So long story short, I take it you'd do it again and wouldn't change a thing? lol Green Meanie clone here I come. I'll post pics when I'm done and give credit where credit is due. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it.

I suggest a 10lbs sludge for the ol pinch seam. With the 4" BS you shouldn't catch the control arms.

Well canadian_driver, Grinthock and myself went out to the ol ZJ yesterday and stripped it of parts.
Like an idiot, I forgot my camera at home so I've got no pics of the ZJ in it's final resting spot.

I did snap a pic of the block with my camera phone, once I figure out how to get it off I'll post it. However for anyone that's wondering, the driver's side front corner around cylinder #1 is gone, a hole chunk of the block is missing.

We pulled off a bunch of stuff like seats, engine parts, wiper motor, etc etc. All of it is sold already. We also yanked the axles, which was great fun and really easy too.
Remove everything your selling (shock and springs, d30 had the steering, track bar and UCA removed already), then use the sawzall and grinder to cut through any remaining connection points, finally, hook winch cable up to axle and pull out from truck :D

It sucked ripping the ol girl apart and I do miss it so may the ZJ rest in peace and maybe one day I'll find myself in another one.
