Well I havent updated this in a long time. Did a ton of wheeling this summer and a few more mods. Did a t case swap to a 231 with SYE, currie steering, 8.8 with aussie locker, 410 gears, cutout the rockers put some 2x4.

Most the ones in my first picture thingy are from a friends land. 2 were from rausch creek in pa wich is where I do most my wheeling.

Started building the long arms. I realy like the way the crossmember came out thanks to keiths designs and the plans that we have for the lower and upper arm mounting location on the rear is probly going to be pretty sweet to.

We mounted the lower control arm on the outside of the frame rail(i know it is a unibody dont bother correcting me) in order to get the most ground clearance as possible.

So last summer bought another zj from a friend and 2 trips later this happened.

http://i50.tinypic.com/htzer6.jpg

which then turned into

http://i45.tinypic.com/4rryud.jpg

Now we are starting to get somewhere...

http://i47.tinypic.com/21mgnf9.jpg

12" cut off the back boat sides

http://i45.tinypic.com/2ljgv12.jpg

This is where we are at now.

The plan will be 1 tons 38"-40" full hydro racing seats and that is about it. This is my dads rig so I am trying to make it as easy for him to get out in the event of another roll over since last time we had to cut him out of the seat since we could not get the belt to come off. So racing seats with some nice harnesses and she should be good to go. I still have my jeep also and that is going to stay on 35's so we will have one buggy and one on 35's.

Not 100% sure on what is going to go down on the front. I wanna keep the fenders and hood and all that. I am thinking one tube from the a pilar down the side/top of fender and into the front bumper. Then maybe a tiny stinger tied into the fender bars. Something simple like that just to protect the hood and engine in another roll over. I get the seats this week so hopefully we can get everything finished with the cage this weekend.

All the wires suck!! I am worried that I am going to run into trouble with the alarm/security when I go to start it again since the battery has died. What has everyone done with their alarm/security that has buggied their zj and how did they bypass it?

SirFuego
03-22-2010, 06:45 PM
What year is your ZJ? Mine's a 93. There is a purple/yellow wire under the driver's kick panel. I just crimped on a ring terminal and grounded it to the chassis. So basically, I still have the alarm, but it's just permanently disabled. If you have an FSM, that goes to the KEY CTL node on the security module that enables/disables the alarm (it's wired to the microswitches on the door) I have an idea to make the security alarm functional again and still work with no doors or tailgate, but haven't tried it yet

Nick

It is a 97. What is a FSM?

curious where your head ends up in relation to those bars just over your headrests? The way I fit my seats, my skull would be right on that. How tall are you?

Not bashing, legitimately curious. Still trying to wrap my head around suspension seat sizing.

Nick
04-07-2010, 12:16 AM
It does look like it but in those seats you do not sit right back in the seat like a normal seat. Sitting normal there is probably 8 inches behind your head. The only way you will hit it is if you really get wipped back or something and I will put a pad there also.
