View Full Version : Shifter Extension Removal on BA 10/5

How it the heck am I supposed to get the shifter extension off!:confused: I tried everythign I could and ended up droppin the tranny with the extension still on! HOWEVER after that my dar snapped the threads off so now i need to remove it to get my guy at the machine shop to weld it back together!

SO if ANYONE actuallyKNOWS how LEMME KNOW!

No im refering to pretty much the shifter itself but like down near the tranny the whole black lever should pop off but it just wont for me !

Pics???? Cable for tranny should squeeze and slide out and pretty sure it pops off the rooster comb thingy..

It's is like the AX15, it's a PITA. I haven't worked on the peguot trannies.

Actually no i havent, i still cant get it off, and unfortunatly no one has been able to help me out yet either!

it takes a hammer, and a punch. put the part of the shifter that bolts to the trans in a vice, put one end of your punch on the very bottom of the shifter extension and knock the crap out of it. it'll take a few minutes but its just a press fit on there and it will come off.

I just got mine off a few weeks ago. It is a one-way pressure fit....... inside the shifter once you get it off you can see all of the "teeth" that hold it on (sorta like an octopus mouth.) Get a good rubber mallet and give it a few well placed whacks from underneath. Make sure that you are not pushing the button in when you do this so you don't break the little bastid.
