Just thought I would share a few pics of the ZJ, suspension was gutted and almost ready to start fabbing. What kind of height are you guys running from the ground to the bottom of the unibody frame rail? I want to be at the same height or around there as ROKn runs. My setup is going to be similar with 16" SWAYAWAYS

nice. is that a 60 front????

Tommy
11-15-2004, 04:44 PM
Yeah it's a D60 front out of 1996 DODGE. That is the one thing I wish was different. It has that funky central axle disconnect. I got a good deal on them and they came from the same truck. I am going to buy a posi-lok so that i can engage it with a cable. When and if i bust it, i am going to do the manual hub conversion from dynatrac, which gets rid of it all together.

You know you have 3 boggers mounted for Drivers side and 1 mounted for passenger side?

Other than that, your rig is gonna be sick.

Tommy
11-16-2004, 05:46 PM
They are just mounted randomly, we just threw them on to help us gauge where we want ride height to be. We'll flop them around when the thing is rolling again.

Tommy
11-16-2004, 05:48 PM
Oops, forgot to mention there is a 5th one mounted for the passenger side, got to have a full size spare.

ROKN ZJ
11-21-2004, 04:41 PM
I haven't had time to go measure the ride height of the ZJ, but if I remember correctly the last time I measured it, it was only like 9.5" taller than stock. I will try and head back out there next week and take some more pictures, it's just not right outside like it used to be unfortunatly.

Also I would suggest looking into a swaybar setup for the rear, to help keep it stable. Mine would be a lot better if I had one. And for all the anti-swaybar people, all the buggy guys use swaybars so they must do something right. Now theoretically you could set up the perfect suspension which wouldn't need one, but IMO they don't really hurt anything, they just help...

Kraqa
11-21-2004, 05:56 PM
i dont' run a sway bar in the rear. and i used to pimp the whole no sway bar thing. but it totaly depends on your terrain. if i was doing alot of off camber rocks i would tottaly run one. but if you do more trail riding with rare off camber situation and alot of rocks and mud i find the flex is very usfull. putting one tire in the air on a muddy rock is not the best solution, the more tire you got on the ground the better. or at least it is in my case.

tommy,

looks good lets see some progress pics. what size tires are those? 38?

Thanks I appreciate it. I understand the weather deal. I have to post some pics of the weather we are having here. It snowed yesterday, kinda unusual for SOCAL. I thought my my palm tree was going to die. We have it siiting at 30" from the bottom of the framerail to the ground. I think it may be to high. Ryan hasn't started to fab the arms yet. Although he did fab up a cool crossmember. I'll snap some pics next weekend. We may be able to get enough triangulation out of it for a front 4 link. And will be able to integrate a belly skid. It should be sick. We will probably be throwing a swaybar on, do you think it is better in the front or rear, or both? I intend on using it, so I want it to work well. There is some more trimming to be done aswell.

Kraqa

Yeah, 15/38.5x16 boggers. The rims have a 4" backspace. I like the way they fit. The terrain I see the most is desert, with hard packed dirt, and some rocks. The trails get really twisty, especially in Truckhaven. And some good hill climbs.

Probably get shot for this but, RJ over at JU had a custom suspension with coilovers on a WJ. While his exact suspension would not work for you, it could give you some insight to fix problems before they arise.

Looks great.

Thanks Hunter. I have seen RJ's WJ, while surfing on NAGCA. His setup is a little different, I think he used claytons kit and 14" coilovers. Very nice though.

I would say you would be better off deciding on ride height based on your specific setup. Figure out what the minimum amount of lift you can run to fit those tires, and set it up. If you get ouy on the trail and it rubs you can always add a little more lift by adjusting the coilovers.

I say 6-8" of lift would be about right to run the 38's.

That is basically what we did. I was just curious, if we were around the same as others. I plan on taking another 2" off the front fenders and doing some trimming in the rear. We are also cutting down the front TR a little. I am going to try and take some more progress pics next weekend.

I want to get rid of it. He can come pick it up this weekend, it is still at the shop where the jeep is. I also have a HPD30 housing? Aren't the knuckles and axles interchangeable. If so I can give you a good deal for the both to get them out of my site.. e-mail me.

Here some updaated pics of the rear 4-link tac'd in. There is a bunch more welding and gusseting to do. The lower arms are going to have another bar welded to them and plated, the truss will be plated as well.

The range of motion for the pinion angle is money. We cycled it some what and there seems to be no bind, and is very solid. We also decided to go with heims all around, probably wont ride like stock (LOL), but it isn't my daily driver. Need to start think of a swaybar setup as well.

Here is the a pic of the rear afetr i gutted it, all ready for the torch..

Tommy

They still need to be gusseted. There is much to do. As far as the coilovers are concerned you are probably right. I still have the 16". There is no way I would fully be able to use 18". Unless I jump, it. Even at that highly doubt it. I appreciate the criticism with regards to the uppers mount. Once they are done you may think differently. No need to be scared.

Tommy
12-13-2004, 03:58 PM
I wish I could find some pics of the way ChrisL did his uppers when he modified claytons kit to be a triangulated 4-link. I remember the upper mounts being very similar for some reason. I am not being an a-hole, I am just curious why the uppers scare you. Can you elaborate for me, I would like to fully understand your point of view.

I am not an engineer, nor do I claim to be one but I have built my own suspension. I think you need to gusset it as much as you can, you should distribute the load as much as you can with frame rail sleaves, and your design lacks protection against any laterial forces, you rely to much on the weld that is attaching your table to the frame rail. Feel free to look at this album: http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4290332795 It is all the pictures of design influences I used when building mine. And if you so desire the build up of my system is here: http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4290718851

I looked through your album earlier today, lots of good pics. I see where you are talking about the lateral stability. The frame rail sleeves will extend further and I think with the gussets planned we will be fine with regards to lateral force. The mounts are just tac'd in at this point and there much work to be completed. Thanks for your help and recommendations.

i would also turn the frame end UCA braket tabs inward more. the do not follow the line of your arm and your sacrificing flex because at rest the heim joints are already mis-alligned.

keep it wide my axles are 69-5/8" in the front plus the rims and tire and i love it. soooooo stable. some people would say to wide but for what i do lots of off camber muddy roocks and stumps it is great. and if you dont' use the 18" CO's then um *cough* throw em my way.

I am thinking a wide and stable as well. Some of the wheeling I have done tends to have some offcaber situations, and my ass cheeks tend to pucker a little. Bought a new intake/filters today, and the posi-lok for the front. Becuase of the CAD it was either weld it or go with the posi-lok. I went with the posi-lok becuase when disengaged and in 4wheel low, I actually will have a 2wheel low. kinda cool I guess. Because it is not a daily driver I plan on spooling both the front and rear. Can you guys see any reason not to? About the only things I really need to get are odds and ends such as ring&pinion front and rear, spools, driveshafts and brake lines, figure out some swaybars, as well as some limit straps.

After to looking into it further, I think we need to change all of the mounts to make them more in line and take the misalignmnet out. I was surfing on PIRATE and everybody runs their link at the same angle as the ca. I think we need to relocate the upper ca mounts on the truss to a location a little more on top of the truss and not so much in front. As well we should move the axle side lower control arm mounts on top of the axle. Thanks!!

befor you start just moving links around have you taken any concideration into anti-squat? if not then decide how much or how little you want to run for what you do and then see where your lnks should go.

don't forget to add front fender clearance to your todo list. for 38's its a must. i did a thread a while back with pics.

Tommy,
Do you have any better pics of your crossmember? How close does your DS come to that upper arm? Looks like it's close. Also, looks like you're going to have fun routing your exhaust!

Corey

Tommy
01-11-2005, 12:03 AM
Yeah we have some fun ahead with the exhaust. I think we have a good route we can use though. We are planning to tuck my flowmaster above the skid and dump it right after. It is really tight with the exhaust. The drive shaft is fine. We have cycled the suspension and it clears at this point. One of the pics is the front fully compressed, we clear both the exhaust and oil pan. We did sacrfice some ground clearance with the crossmember to position the arms. Here is a pic of the crossmember, please remember it isn't finished yet and we still have some gussets and sort to do. It is hard to see in these pics but the DS clears fine. I will take some better pics next time I get up to the shop. The inner fender wells were cut out today in preparation for the front hoops and engine cage.

You can kind of see it in the second pic but the x-member will also help to brace the rear upper ca mounts. There is a bar which extends from the crossmember to the rear upper ca mounts, where a flange will be placed and the crossmember will bolt on. Ryan plans to integrate these bars for the belly skid.

Please be candid you criticism is appreciated....

Thanks Chad. You comment is is definately noted. We hope to have the truck done by early feb. We want to get some testing done before TDS, so we can beat on it some. Called Jess at High Angle today, he is worried about my T-CASE "NP242". It seems as though he is a little tanative to build me some shafts because of my Tom Woods SYE. He feels that the 242 is to weak to handle the 60's/38.5" bogger combo. Once the 242 breaks I am going ATLAS.. The gears should be in any day now. I ordered full spools and 5.38's from PeakZJ.

chadjans
01-11-2005, 12:50 AM
What year 242? There is a difference between the early and late model 242's. His sye for the early 242's is stronger than the late ones. Do you have a yoke mounting or a flanged on the rear driveshaft?

Chad

Tommy
01-11-2005, 12:59 AM
The 242 is out of a 89 XJ. The SYE that I bought from Tom Woods has a flange, which then connects to the DS. This is the kit, for the most part...

http://www.4xshaft.com/231earlyconv.jpg

chadjans
01-11-2005, 01:02 AM
I think you have two issues with the SYE, not particulary the SYE's fault. But your tire size warrents the use of a bigger cardian joint like a 1410 and the output shaft is not big enough for your tire size. Which is a fin size for like a 35 to maybe a 37.

Chad

Tommy
01-11-2005, 01:08 AM
Exactly what Jess said. I think he is going to go ahaed and build the shafts for me with the understanding that the cardian will be a major weak point. He suggested I carry like 4 DS's. LOL. I plan on sending the two I have now to him and the getting two other made. We'll see, i might just buy me an ATLAS, but the wife will be pissed.

Looks good. Are you going to make it so the cross member bolts in? Doesn't look like it does right now, but I could be wrong.

Corey

Tommy
01-11-2005, 01:34 AM
Corey as it stands right now the crossmember uses the stock bolts, but there is a tube which extends from the crossmember to the rear uca mounts. There will be a flanged weled to it and then it will also be bolted to the rear uca mounts. The belly skid will be built from that, so it seems as though the belly skid and x-member will be one.

You can't see the bolts in any of my pics.

You could probably build it with 4:1 for under 2Gs, and it would be just as strong as (if not stronger than) an Atlas.

Tommy

Steering is a toss up right now between full hydro and hydro-assist. It will see some freeway time and I am feeling a bit safer and leaning toward the hydro-assist. By any chance does anybody know what u-joint is on the dodge D60's, (out of a 96) a 1350 I think? Ordering the drive shafts has been a little PITA. I just don't know enough, but I am learning. My rear shaft is fine, it is a Woods shaft with gold joints that came with my SYE, all I need for the rear is a conversion U-Joint to mate that shaft with the 60, right? The front I need a completely new shaft. High Angle wants like $850.00 for the front shaft and rear u-joint. Sorry for the newbie tech stuff..

Are these the measurments I should take?

Steering is a toss up right now between full hydro and hydro-assist. It will see some freeway time and I am feeling a bit safer and leaning toward the hydro-assist. Plus I don't have a tow rig at this time, so it will have to get to and from the trail. Steering and sway bars still need to be tackled.

I just drove a nice Yota on the street with full hydro. I wont be doing that again unless Im going next door or possibly down the block to the store. Scary stuff, especially with no swaybars and a welded rear.

Slammed for all of the ricers. All I need are some chrome curb feelers now.

Tommy - with all that tire are you planning to open up the rear wheel wells with tubs?

I've got a similar build in progress and i'm still deciding what to do with the gas tank. I'd like to locate the rear axle 6-8" back from stock to center it between the end of the rockers and bumper, but that would put the axle truss right into the tank.

in-cab fuel cell :D

Tommy
01-31-2005, 05:56 PM
I hadn't planned on moving the fuel tank at all. Fully collapsed I am having no issues with clearance. The truss and upper ca mounts dont stick up or back to much and all clearances are fine. I think we moved the rear back like 3" or 4" and the front forwatd some as well. As far as the fuel cell is concerned I wanted to be able to carry a full size spare. I wanted it to be stored internally. So Ryan made that pre-runner style tire carrier. The tire is a big mutha and takes up a ton space in the rear. There isn't much room for a fuel cell back there. i need to take some more pics, with all of the rear plastic back in, the carpet cut, nd the full zize spare back there. It looks clean. IMO.

My steering setup is kind of temporary at this time, we plan on going full hydro. I was planning on doing hydro-assist but with the 4-link front and no t-bar as Corey found out you run into some steering issues under articulation.

moving the tank is one thing i bnever did until now and as soon as i did it i slapped my self. i should have done it a LOOOOOOOONG time ago. you have so much more room. but as you WILL find out 38's do not like the stock fenders and i'l bet you will hack them in no time. you will have very little up travel with then 38's unless you run BIG lift of chop. i was @ 6" and had tons of problems that is another thing that persured me to the rout that i'm taking now. plus it makes for a good write up.

Kraqa, the 6" you mentioned, are you reffering to the amount of uptravel you have or the amount of lift you are running? I think you are reffering to the amount of up travel. I think my ZJ is going to be a little tall. But with the CO's there is some adjustability. Ryan mad the arms with forward and reverse threads so the arms can be some what adjusted in place.

I will try and get up to the shoop so I can take some more pics this weekend. Manning at full droop what kind of travel are you getting? Kraqa did you ever measure what kind of travel you go at full droop

I wish I had been able to get up to the shop and take some pics with the 38.5" spare back there. It is tight. Bringing the tank up a foot cut's into that space. Are you going to be tossing the rear lftgate, or cut the back 2 windows out?

I should have bought a f250 front D60, but i got a good deal on the one i have and i am so far in the build now. I am using the POSI-LOK for front axle engagment becuase the DODGE D60 has the CAD. I have looked into converting the to D70 knucckles and spindles, to give it manual hubs. Do you guys think it is woth the trouble to do it? I am running 5.38's and a full spool up front, if i were to lock the manual hubs i would be able to disengage them from in the CAB with the POSI-LOK for tight turns ETC, then rengage it without getting out of the CAB. With the conversion i have the option of going 35 spline.

Tommy-
With respect to what Jess told you about needing heavier duty driveshafts and t-case, i'm wondering if they're really necessary. If you check out a tire size/gear ratio chart, at 65mph, a stock ZJ w/ 29" tires and 3.73 gears will be turning 2809 RPM. You're going to be running 38's with 5.38 gears, so at 65mph your engine will be turning 3093 RPM....or the equivalent of putting 26.5" tires on a stock ZJ. So if we're simply talking about physics of gearing and ignoring the fact that the 38's and heavier duty axle shafts weigh a lot more, it technically should be EASIER for your engine, trans, t-case, and driveshafts to turn those axleshafts and tires with those low gears. I realize that there's a lot more mass to turn with those tires, but i still think that a huge majority of that added stress is going to be absorbed by the axleshafts rather than the driveshafts.
When people found out i was putting a 14b under my jeep, everyone said that i'd need to upgrade my t-case and driveshafts, but i''ve only got 35" tires with 5.13 gears (so at 65mph, my engine's turning 3200 RPM!). So on mine, i really don't think i'm going to need to upgrade my driveshafts or t-case because i think those parts are actually feeling that it's easier to turn that pinion on the diff than it was when it was stock.
Someone please correct me if i'm thinking about this completely wrong, or give me an example as to why it's wrong, but this is what currently makes sense to me logically.

Ron

I was feeling the same way. I think his biggest concern was the hack and tap Tom Woods SYE on my 242. I am having a hard time foking out the cash for the ATLAS and shafts. I feel good about it one day and feel remorseful the next. For the price of the Atlas and shafts I could buy an f250 to tow the jeep. It sucks not having a truck, especially going to lowes or home depot. He was also concerned with the 1310 joints. If I keep the 242 and run the crap out of i would just need buy the 1310 conversion yoke for the rear 60 and some flange adapter for the front of my 242. I guess jess sells a 1350 conversion for the front output of the 242. It is a 23 spline flange, I think the 242 is 32 but haven't confirmed it. If i keep the 242 my front shaft would be all 1350 and my rear would be 1310 and I will be able to reuse my Tom Woods rear shaft. If I do this i would for sure convert my CAD front D60 to manual hubs..

About the same price with 4:1 gears. Because everyone thinks they need a D300. And all tcases are useless with big tires and 2.7X ratio. Ring and pinon gear swaps are only good for the street.

As promised, some more pics. As you will notice our first attempt/guess at coil rates was unsucessful. The jeep is sitting way high. Back to Kartek next weekend. The front is 500's over 550's and the rear is 400's over 450's. Probably going to move the rear coils to the front and go way lighter in the rear , 300's over 350's. Unfortunately Rokn had no clue what he was running so we kinda guessed. There is also a pic of the spare tire carrier holding the 38" spare.

Okay, I think it has been mentioned in this particular thread at least three times. I went to switch it around this weekend and what do you know. Those fuckers at 4heel parts mounted 4 tires for the driver side. I didn't pay attention when I picked them up. I need to take the spare and have it flipped for the passenger side, I 'll do that when I take the ZJ down to have the exhaust / gears done at my Dad's shop.

I did drive the ZJ Saturday for the first time in 6 months. This thing was all over the fucking road. Ordering the full hydro today. :smt003 The suspension seems to work well and the coils seem to be right on. This is pointless without pics but we got the thing stuck on it's first time out, easy to do with only 2 wheel drive ( no front drive shaft and no lockers yet).

Picked up the jeep from the shop on Saturday. On the way to my Dad's shop for gears, spools, posi-lok and exhaust. And get a front drive shaft measured.

Strap your Jeep around the axles and tires... not around the body. Makes it bouncy.

Kraqa
05-09-2005, 02:31 PM
It wont make a difrence on where you tie it down. most tow companies strap down from holes in the frame. I see no difrence with this then the bumpers.

JpRngr

I would suggest more straps and doing both. Main straps should go around the axles to keep the Jeep on the trailer, secondary straps to the frame to control sway.

word. I've found that the more I compress the suspension down while towing, the more stable it feels. Without it, you can feel the jeep sway and pull you around a bit.

Lookin good dude. Can't wait to see you roll it :D

Forgot to mention, brought the ZJ to the exhaust shop monday to have the exhaust peiced to gether. I had to order a smaller cat and some sort of really skinny flowmaster to fit in the spot I wanted. I think the thing is only like 5.5" wide or something. If anybody lives in the SD area I highly recomend a shop off of Miramar Road called Wholesale Tube Bending. Larry the owner is the shit!!

I notice you and I have the same front axle. I thought you might want to know that you don't have to order that kit from Dyna Trac to delete the two piece axle. All I did was shorten the long side two inches (ground off the weld on the "C" and cut the end off) and buy Dutchman shafts and an OX locker (when not locked it is completly open). Also, the two diff. seals have the same O.D. So all I did was put a seal that goes on the short side on the long side. Only cost me $1500 compared to Dyna Tracs $2895, and this does not include a locker.

Just letting you know, and if you already knew this, sorry for wasting your time. :weedman:

As it sit's right now my plans went to hell. First off the spools I got were the wrong spline count . So I went ahead and ordered ARB's front and rear from Peak ZJ. They should be here this week. The steering still isn't done. I have no fucking front shaft yet. And the rear end doesn't even have any gear oil in it. It has been sitting at my dads shop for the past 2 weeks. Work has kicked my ass, with 76 hour work weeks. Been pulling a few doubles a week. My wife has been on my case. Shall I go on, I could write a novel.

To sum it up, NO!! I am a bitch and won't be there this year. But when it is done I will PM you Cody so you can watch it roll as you predicted. have fun guys..

Why? It goes from the garage to the parking lot, from the parking lot to the trailer. From the trailer to the shop, and it will be taken off and go full hydro.

I have driven it a couple of times. From the exhaust shop to my dads shop at about 60 mph and it seemed stable. Relatively speaking for a half ass alignment and a shit load of bump steer.

Ok, just wanted to say I saw Tommy's rig down in San Diego today. It appeared to be collecting dust in a parking lot of a few repair shops in the Mirimar area. Let me just say that thing is frickin HUGE!! It makes mine look like a station wagon.

Yeah, it is at my Dad's shop in Miramar, Lee Rollins Firestone. It is dusty, i haven't washed it in almost 10 months. It still has half of Ocitillo in it from my last trip. I have been waiting on parts for some time, and have everything I need now. i am lazy and the lifts + tools at the shop make my life a ton easier. It has been it's home for about 7 weeks now.

i was waiting on my ARB's front and rear. PEAKZJ got them out to me a couple weeks ago. But with 4th of July and work i haven't had the time to get it done.

If you take your Jeep there ask for Mark and let him know your a friend of mine. he'll do his best to give you a good deal on whatever you need. Plus it is an honest shop..

Finally got them POS moving again after 2 months. One little snag in the rear. Did anyone know that the rear d70 out of a dodge has a smaller inner pinion bearing. I had to reuse my old one becuase the fucking bearing install kit that was sent to me from PeakZJ had the wrong bearing. The kit was for a D70, and all of the rest of the parts were correct except for this bearing. I guess, just one more funky thing about this D70. It is amazing how smooth an install can be with the right parts. On to the front when I get back from New Orleans.

Pulled the axle tag id and it didn't specify. The dodge D70 has 32 spline axle shafts, which inturn means limited locker selection. Nobody makes a 32 spline spool for this axle. One of the reasons why I am running ARB's front and rear.

I will upload them to photobucket and share in chit chat.

The front ARB's just about done. The bone heads from ARB didn't send me everything for connecting the air lines. The package was missing and inner compression nut and an additional ferule. I am getting fucking frustrated. I can't wait for the rig to be done. Upon taking apart the front found a smoked drivers side hub and replaced both ujoints. The nut holding the rotor and hub to the outer stub shaft was so damn rusted, I just about smoked the outer shaft. Dealer wanted like $300 bucks for the outer stub shaft. $156 bucks each for this front axle.

Still to go:

Drive Shafts
Belly skid
hydro steering
Hook up the POSI-LOK.
And paint all the crap to make it look petty.

JpRngr
10-25-2005, 01:40 AM
So, are you going full hydro or hydro-assist? Your post just says hydro. I would stay away from full hydro if you plan on street driving or any high speed driving. I've got full hydro on my TJ and it'll be coming off during my rebuild. Very spooky trying to keep it on the highway, especially on CO's passes.

Glad to hear it's finally coming along. We just got Cristi's rig back on the road this past Saturday. It's the one that was apart in my backyard way back when! Good luck with the rest!

Tommy
10-26-2005, 12:19 AM
Yeah Corey I am going full hydro, got all PSC stuff. Just finished up the front totally today. I am a fucking bone head and had forgot to put the rubber o rings on the ARB. So I ahd to take apart the whole front again. I don't expect to driving it to much on the street. Probably just to go get some milk or something:) , or cruise through the mall on friday nights j/k.

Glad to Cristi's rig is done. Hope the baby is doing well? I am almost there. Should have my rig back up from my Dads shop this friday and have it back to Ryans shop next weekend to start the full hydro, belly skid, and cage. I am trying to workout a deal with him for the cage. I want to help and get some welding experience at the same time. I have some more pics of how I ran my lines, mounted the compressor, and mounted my switches but I haven't had time to upload them. Hopefully in the next couple of days. Had to also mount the POSI-LOK under the hood becuase the cable was so short. I plan to leave it engaged all the time anyways.

Hooked up some ground EFX. j/k Got the rock lights halfway installed. Ran 8 lights from WalMart. Like $15.00 a pair. All to two Solenoids or relays, then to one switch mounted inside the center console with my CB. I also have circuit breakers installed in line as well between the solenoids and the battery, all 12 guage wire. Ordering Firestick and mount this week. Just have to ground all of the lights and run power from the selonoids and the rocklights will be done. They should be really bright. I have a wiriing diagram if anybody is intrested. We were crawling a nice little rock garden on the back side of Blow Sand In Ocitillo a couple weekends ago and I feel into a hole kind of sideways towards some boulders. It freaked her out. She really doesn't spot to well. It took allot of skinny pedal to get out. And smoked the front CV.... She wants me to finish my half doors pronto.

I aksed her " How does your side look?"
Her response "There are lots of big rocks?":smt115

Life just seems to be getting the way of my small projects.

half doors
quarter panel protection

Why not just build a tube buggy?

Tommy

Good question. I have no clue....

Maybe becuase this one will be registered, insured, and still pass CA smog. I like to go and pickup beer, milk, eggs, tp, and tampons from time to time at the Stater Brothers down the road.

My tube buggy is registered, insured, and still passes GA emissions :D Just giving you a hard time, looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

how do you get away with having no fenders in the rear to cover the tires and no windshield?

Winshield will be replaced with a new one. It was already broken. I need to take it out to do some of the cage work I would like to do.

Fender thing is minor details.

Easy, I just wear sunglasses and don't drive it when the roads are soaked.

GA testing is just for emissions, not a full inspection, and Atlanta cops seem to be preoccupied with little things like drug trafficking and murders.

Nice! Can't wait to see how this is getting chopped up!

Dovenose plans? Or just some chopping of the front bumper underneath the headlights?

Why not just build a tube buggy?

I thought about this some more. This is a good idea. So screw it...

So people, buy my shit in the for sale section. I need to come up with some cash for a chassis. I don't have the time to build one. So I am just going to buy one.

I e-mailed PS about a Bruiser, but they dont respond.

BTF responded right away. Here is what I am looking at going with.

Rims, tires and winch are already on my SCRAM. I need something to wheel while I rip this thing apart and build a new rig.

It is what I really want anyways. I don't want to turn my rig into a scab I just keep f'ng with....

Sweet Tommy. Good call- I bet I have over a thousand hours in my rig just since I cut the roof.

Also check out bent fabrications and a lot of the other smaller name chassis makers on pirate. There are some great quality, very appealing chassis designs being sold that don't get enough credit.

ZJ is officially dead..... part of the roof is laying in the back of my pickup right now. Sad day... Axles are gone, motor is going into my scrambler. And a shit load of stuff to sell.

At least the front clip and rear lift gate will live on in some form. Motor and trans are going in the scrambler. I retained the license plate and vin plates...
