I am going to buy a press set-up to do my gear install, which press do you think i'd make out better with? And to anyone that has done this before...what seperators would I need, and what other tools would I need...beside the obvious. Again- I'd like to hear it from someone that has done this before . THANKS!

I'm sure you'll be using that press at some point once you're done with the gear install...so get the 20 ton cause you never know what you're gonna need it for. I've got a 20 ton and even it's insufficient to do the job once in a while...a 12 ton would probably be pretty weak.

Yeah I imagine so. My Dad's got a 40 ton and we've maxed that out before... well not so much that the cylinder maxed (there's a pressure guage) but the frame was about to blow apart.

yea I was thinking the same thing. To remove and install bearings for a ring and pinion set-up, a 20 ton should be more then fine though right?

Should be fine. That is what i used for my R&P when i did mine, worked good and did not have any problem with it. Got mine from Harbor Freight and after 2 years of bearings and ujoints it still is working fine.
