Just out of curiosity, what do your V8s have for oil pressure during normal driving. Mine has always been between 20-40 psi, but usually around 30 if I remember correctly, for as long as I can remember. I have always thought that was low, but never bothered to research it further. Interesting, eh?

that's interesting.. because mine is never below 40 unless i'm at a stop light or something.. usually in the 40-55 range. Wonder why the v8 has less?

ya fluctuates between 30-40 (4.0L)

what is the concensus on high oil pressure? How high is too high?

I have the 5.9 and I run right at 40 when I'm up to temperature, maybe a tad less when I just start it.. Does it run poorly or anything?

Then again I do have an aftermarket oil pump, I forgot to compare against stock.:drinkers:

:scarcasim: well the high side of the guage dosent have any red like the low side so that must mean higer is gooder!!!, so prolly in the 300-400 psi range, or whenever oil starts blowing out the block seals and such..... :scarcasim:

It starts out around 40 and then on the interstate it fluctuates between 20 and 30. Doesn't run rough or anything and uses a little less than a qt every 3k miles, which seems normal for an engine with 136k.

why did you run the aftermarket pump? is it high flow? i was told by tones of people unless your at the track that pump can and moslikely will run your pan dry.

u dunno what mine runs unless i was to go outside and look, but it is pretty much always about 3-4mm to the right past the half-way on the meter.

edit: o ya, i gots the 5.2

my 5.2 is always above the 40psi mark, it may drop down to about 40 when it really needs an oil change but otherwise its well above. the rear main seal leaks a little bit but its never more than half a quart low over 3k miles..

I've got a new pump in my 5.2. Runs between 40 and 55.

i was driving earlier and remembered to look. it was actually just a little past 60. strange thing is, its been 3,650 miles since my last oil change. usually it will burn up about a quart about every 3k so it should be lower, right?

its pretty freakin cold (30's) too today so i would think that would make it even lower than normal or maybe im on crack. :drinkers:

Well it dropped to the 20s today (temp outside) and the pressure stayed at a bit past 50. Who knows what the deal is...
