How muck slop is acceptable in a valve giud? i'm rebuilding my SBC350 and in abotu 6 valves the valve can wobble abotu 1/32" in either direction.

Is that with the springs, locks, and retainers? Should be bubba tight, if i'm thinking about the right thing. take a pic / video.

Any idea how many miles on the heads? Factory valve job? What year/series are the heads? Is it stem wear or guide wear? Bronze guides will tend to last but generally will cause wear to the stem. It may be worth it to throw a valve job at them. Or you could just purchase a pair of vortec heads, they're dirt cheap brand new.... Generally cheaper than a complete valve job, and you gain on average 30-40hp just by changing to those heads.

You don't check valve-play with the springs installed.

BTW --- What the fuck is "bubba tight"???? Sounds like something from 'Deliverance'.;-)

I pictured something else.

Bubba tight is a degree of tightness. There's tight, then there's bubba tight.

Deliverance is a creepy fuckin movie:eek:
