I’m taking my ZJ up to 1 ton axles (buggy time) and so am selling off my rear 44. There is nothing wrong with this axle, it’s a bolt in ready to go axle that’s about as built as a 44 can get. This axle will work well for a ZJ, XJ, or TJ. The coil buckets are TJ, but will work with ZJ coil springs as well, as you can see from the pictures how I ran it for 2 years on my Jeep without issue. This axle has a Claytons Offroad (www.claytonoffroad.com (http://www.claytonoffroad.com/)) 4 link truss on top of it. It will not bolt under a stock ZJ or TJ. If you have claytons 4 link suspension, this will bolt up. If you don’t, you need to build yourself (or have built) some long arms that will work with it. The truss itself will work with any 4 link suspension system, but the brackets may need modified if it isn’t Claytons (if it uses heims, crawler joints, etc.)

Here’s what this axle has: 4.56 Spicer gears, Superior Chromoly axle shafts, Rubicon disc brakes, Detroit locker, Claytons 4-link truss, ubolt style Spicer 1310 yoke.. I’m also including the TJ sway bar which was attached with greasable poly bushings to the axle, with threaded rod and heim joints connecting the bar to the jeep body. This allows you to run a rear sway bar on a ZJ with long arms without interference. The bottom of the differential was shaved slightly for clearance.

This axle has always been run with fully synthetic 75w 140

The axle was completely rebuilt with new parts (ALL new parts) 10,000 miles ago. That means there’s only 10,000 miles on the bearings.

Here’s the break down of the new parts, all prices listed except truss are from 4wheelparts, or 4 wheel drive hardware. These are not “list” prices:

TJ axle: I’ve seen these go from anywhere from $300-600.
Detroit Soft-Locker for TJ 44 $630
Superior M44 Rear Axle Shaft, Driver Side, TJ, 1997-03 (http://www.4wd.com/shop/productdetail.asp?model=tj&productsku=725711L): $139.99
Superior Axle and Gear Model 44 Rear Axle Shaft, Passenger Side, TJ, 1997-03 (http://www.4wd.com/shop/productdetail.asp?model=tj&productsku=725711R): $139.99
Disc Brake Conversion:
TJ 44 Spicer 4.56 gears: $195
Master Install kit: $102
TJ sway bar / poly bushings: $80
Heims to make bar work with ZJ’s: $43
Disc Brake Conversion: $879
Claytons Offroad 4-link truss: $175
Ubolt style 1310 Spicer yoke: $65

Upgrades total, not counting housing price: $2449
Axle value assuming the axle was $300: $2749

I’m asking $2150. At this time I’m not planning to ship it, but I am willing to deliver this axle within a reasonable distance if you pay my gas mileage both ways from zip code 15017 (assuming the 15MPG the WK I’d be bringing it with gets.)

I live in Bridgeville, PA if you want to see how long it would take you to pick up the axle.

Payment: I prefer PayPal, cash, or money order. If you want to pay on pickup, I require a $500 deposit if you’ll be longer than a week to make the exchange. If you want to do a personal check, please understand I need to wait a few days for the funds to clear before you can take the axle.

The best way to contact me is through email: jeepzj@fccsonline.com (jeepzj@fccsonline.com)

I’ll be glad to answer any questions, please email them, as I’m listing this in several places keeping track of the threads can be difficult.

It’s the axle on the floor in this picture, the one on stands is my new axle.

Here’s a picture of the new Superior shafts I put in it just 7 months ago:

Shock tabs on the axle are at tube height, not below where they get hit by rocks:

Here you can see how the sway bar system works without hitting the long arms on a ZJ http://www.bigassjeep.com/pics/phoenix/9.03.05.i.jpg

I don’t think there’s anything else I can tell you about this axle, but email me if you think of anything.
