View Full Version : possibly transmission EFF up?

who knows why a whinning noise is coming from under vehicle during cruising with foot on the gas but the noise stops when the gas pedal isnt ? what could possible be makin the noise? btw 249 tcase operartes fine shifts thru all gears. and when i was driving along interstate goin about 60 i would shift into N on the tranny and it would stop ? where do i go from here?

This could be a couple of things. I would not look at the tranny. could be your gears or bearings in your differencial. I'm going to assum that it is you rear dif thats making the noise. i would guess its your pinion bearing. i beleive....(its been a while since i had gear noise so i'm goign from memory, correct me if i'm wrong someone).....that if it is a noice on acceleration it is your outer pinion bearing, if the whine is on the deccell it is your inner bearing.

I woudl start my figuring out what part of the vehicle the noise is comming from. the front of the rear.

If it just started, I would suspect a pinion bearing.

I had 2 sets of Genuine Gears whine way bad right out of the box. Chinese JUNK!

yeah i had a mechanic look at it and thats it and i got the beargin and ram for under 15 bucks . just wondering if anyone knows what size that nut is on the yoke? thanks then what u do pull the yoke out and drop in new bearing and ram and reverse process
