I've seen a ton of XJs that the doors are pinned like Wranglers. I know that ZJ door hinges are different than XJs. Has anyone done this mod before? Just something I'm thinking of doing.

You don't need to. Just remove the 4 bolts that hold on the door. When you want the door back on, thread the bolts back in. Simple.

My friend has pinned hinges on his XJ. It makes removing and installing the door much easier especially when trying to put them back on by yourself, but it would require some engineering and fabrication on the ZJ's. It's more trouble than it's worth IMO.

4 bolts. No prob. Good excercise when you do it alone.

Great exercise!! Yeah after a few times doing it I probably wouldn't need power steering. :smt075 When you undo the the 4 bolts don't u have to realign the door after that? :smt017

Nope. When you tighten down the bolts, it aligns the door.

what do you guys do about the interior lights when you remove the door? I was thinking about putting a switch on the interior lights so that i could control it, but I dunno how that would work.

If you have a 96+ - the door switches are ground activated, which means if you just unscrew the screw and put it in your pocket, the lights will stay off.

sorry to bring up a old thread... does the "just tighten and it alligns itself" method work on zj's 2? or only on wj's?

when reinstalling yourself how long does this take?
