I have a D30 on my 93 ZJ and the left CV joint is going out. I would like to replace it with a U joint style shafts. Are there any aftermarket shafts out that will replace my weak CV style axle shafts? I was told I would have to get a TJ axle. :smt017

following will work:

ujointed ZJ axle (93 to 95 axles)
TJ / Late model XJ axle (avoid 260's) - you lose ABS
various chromo upgrade shafts (superior or alloy USA)
warn hub conversion (too much $$$) and warn inners.

I'd also suggest using 760's in place of 297's when available.

you can run chromoaxles. bout $600 for both sides

Thanks, I just don't want stock. I need more dependable components even if it's more expensive. Will the Superior Super 30 kit work on a ZJ?
Don't care about ABS.

It'll work, but you'll still have stock hubs.

ujointed ZJ axle (93 to 95 axles)

Only some 93-95's have u-joints, correct? I have a 93 and in my FSM it says I have cv style joints on my d30. I havent opened up the boot and looked .. how come some ZJs got cvs while others got u's??? just lucky?

then how come no 96 and up had u-joints? seems like they decided on a weaker design :toimonst:

if it has boots it is a cv, duh

u joints came on zj's with part time. cvs on the 249

Yup, I misposted. I was thinking it was ALL 93-95's, but I forgot they used CV's on all ZJ's with the 249 to help prevent binding.

You can do the Super 30 with 30 spline hubs and put your ABS tone rings on the new outer shafts.

Who makes 30 spline hubs?

i guess you can do that

IMHO the 27 spline alloys should be pretty strong. I would rather have some shafts and hubs blow before a gearset or locker anyday

Werd. You're just moving the weak point with those kits. Something WILL blow up in that 30, and you might as well make it the easiest thing to replace...

x2, or maybe x3 now.
