I was looking over the ZJ the other day and I noticed somehow my tranny cooler lines got pinched. I know the dealor doesn't sell the metal fuel lines anymore, do they have the tranny cooler lines? Should I just get out some pliers and try to squeeze the sides and force it back into shape? If not - what to use to fix it?

Cut it, flare it a bit and put a rubber line. Or cut it, get 2 brass compression fittings (or flare fittings if you have have a flaring tool) and splice in some brake line.

In April 2003 the stealer still had the tranny cooler lines. We f-ed up one during my 4x4 conversion and had to replace it.

I bought some flare fittings from ACE. Bought some tubing and bent it up to match stock lines. I believe the quick release pressure fittings are like $80 or something each from the dealer. I replaced both lines for under $20.

This is one of the lines installed. Only pic I have.

in my waggy I just swapped the fittings on each end for barbed fittings and ran 3/8" rubber line to the coolers and back. Hasn't caused any issues....

Damn skippy.. I was just thinking of running braided stainless lines for my Tranny cooler but I wasnt sure how to hook them to the tranny and radiator.. Never thought of keeping a few inches and using flare fittings..

Good call..

Yeah I thought about just using rubber lines but didn't know if that would be ok because of the pressure. I still think rubber lines would work fine if you have enough slack overlapping each end. I just figured the tubing w/ flare fittings would be a bit stronger.

It's low pressure. Use tranny cooler line. Fuel line will get ate up after a while. Not sure why, but it does, believe me.

of all the things to skimp on, "ghetto fuel lines" seem like a bad idea.

one thing on the rubber hose: as noted low-pressure fuel line isn't ideal but they do make other rubber hoses. I forget what the stuff was called weatherhead at NAPA I think. It's just some general purpose low-pressure hose but the rubber seems tougher than fuel line and the braiding is more substantial too...
