Well I leave for the Rubicon in the morning :flipoff2: and I started thinking about locking the front diff (obviously not for this trip). I'm going to build better axles in the fall so wasting money on an ARB or full locker like that seemed kinda stupid. So what about a lunchbox locker like the quicklock/aussie or something in the 30... What I wanted to ask is do you guys think its a bad idea to throw in a locker like that in the front (4.0L motor, 4.56s, 760x (welded caps) ujointed shafts and 35" tires)?

Leave it open until you swap in your real axles. You don't wheel that often anyways. Note how you say "hopefully," expecting something else to possibly come up. This is not a rip on you, because I don't get to wheel as much as I'd like either, but in 4-5 months, how much wheeling can you possibly do? The summer is getting close to being half over anyways. And judging by your past track record, I don't think you'll get out there enough to make it worth your time.

I never broke anything in my 30 w/ it locked on 35s. Ofcourse I wasn't balls to the wall on it, but there were a couple times I was hard enough it to be worried about breaking a shaft. The front being locked definately makes a world of difference though.

I was very happy with my Aussie Locker in the front of my LP 30. Granted I haven't driven it in a while, but it held up fine, and didn't flinch with 32's. Hopefully, I'll be as lucky with the 35's.

I don't lock the front in unless I have to, and really I've "had" to only a few times.

While we're on the topic of lunchbox lockers, I may go that route. What is everyone running? Lockright, etc.

No slip as soon as I put my front diff back together.

I put an aussie locker in the front today. d44 though, not the turdy... Haven't gotten a chance to try it out yet so I can't tell you how much I like it.

Aussie locker, makes an occasional click but it doesn't bother me.
