Some of you have been folowing my post about the pkastic K&N tube warpeing.
Well I got my replacement tub last Friday took it out of the box and looked it over.
They redid it in a thicker plastic looks like 5mm compared to the 3 mm the old one is. Looke good I thought.
Took my old one off and tried to put the new one on, but the thicker plastic was hitting the raised parts of the TB. After som prying and a little trimming I was able to get to slide down onto the TB.
Pyt the nut with a washer on the allthread stud and tightened it down as tight as I could. Looked pretty good from the front but Ias I looked at the back there was about 1/4 inch gape between the tube and the TB.
So I took a piece of flat bar drilled a hole in it and weged the back under the cowle and tightened it down with the nut as tight as I felt comfortable with, still had about 1/16 gap in the back.
It looks like the base of the tube where it meets the TB is not cut straight.
At this point I am about done with K&N.
I wish some one made an aluminum angle that ould fit the TB and still clear the hood.
Any way if your thinking about buying the K&N kit think twice!!
Still waiteing for a call back from them.
I have some pics if someone wants to host them for me.
