Do you have to pull the whole dash ? I want to put all my switches (oba, arb, ect) there and I have found 3 screws... but its still not comming out.

I didn't remove mine, but I did have it dangling by the wires at one point. If I remember correctly, it is only the black plate around it you need to remove, then two bolt headed screws to get the VIC out? I don't think you need to remove the other surrounding plastic (bottom piece) - but I had mine off at the time so I'm not positive.

I'm considering doing the same thing

There's the 2 screws above the shifter handle in your pic, then there's 1 or 2 behind the ash tray. Then pull the bezel out enough to disco the cig lighter. That'll get you to the screws holding the VIC in. Pull the 2-4 screws and you should be able to pull it out far enough to disco the wiring from it.

Seems like it'd be a sweet place to mount a CB

I removed mine.. And its sitting on my desk right now.. (Been there for more than a year. :smt003 )

Anyway.. I put a piece of aluminum there and mounted all my swithes for lights and OBA and electric fan and all that shit on it... And I tossed the ash tray away and mounted my CB there...

To remove that, you have to take like half the dash apart, at least on mine. The glove box panel comes out, the panel under the steering wheel, gotta take the trim off around the lights knob, O/D off side too... It's a pain.

I just took the thingy that goes around it off... And then unscrewed it. It has 2 screws just like everybody says..

Here is what my Jeep looks like without it...

here is where i put my CB.
i moved the heater controls down to where the VIC was and had to cut some of the air vent away for the CB to fit but i like it.
started:

I like the idea of moving the HVAC controls down there. It looks pretty good. (I wonder where AlaskaZJ put his in Chuggy?)

I am ghetto fabulous with the hurst  Its a modified TF727 shifter that I fit under the stock console and removed the ratchet lock out.. I can rip that baby from park to low without stopping...

It has a Z gate sorta setup that will allow me to slam it to Neutral should I need to but have to pull it to me to get reverse and park...

And dig how I knotched out the boot so you can still see the stock selector....

:smt003 (getting that stupid thing right was probobly the hardest part...)

On a side note ..My rig is normally cleaner than that but that picture was taken when I was making my half doors and thats bondo dust all over everything...
