Popped my hood this morning to look for a spot to mount the compressor and wow, that's one full engine compartment . Just curious where everybody else mounted thiers. I saw some pictures of one under the back seat. I'm thinkin' I'll have to put this in back where the CD changer is. Did anybody with a 318 find a spot under the hood?

Got all the room in the world thanks to my Turbo City intake.

With batter and evetrything else stock under the hood, there's no room. No way, no how. trust me I tried.

Ended up mounting it to the wheel well in the cargo compartment. Under the seats could work, but remember those puppy's do get HOT!

Dave, that's like a FIPK right? How much do the turbo city ones cost? The FIPK is way to much for me!

But you can always mount yours on the drivers fender ...

Just get rid of the stupid air box and get a flex hose from autozone (ricer isle..) and put a filter on the end of it.. That will give you the room you need...

Kinda like this ..... Except I used the rubber hose from my honda CRX.. :smt003

All you have to do is put a filter there where my snorkle filter is... That will give you a psuedo cold air intake and room for your compressor.. Everybodys happy.. :supz:

Thanks for the info! I'll probably hit the ricer section at the local vatozone and come up with something!
Thanks,
Joe

If you ditch your ABS pump there is room for it there, or get a K&N FIPK or Turbo city intake and it will fit where the stock air box was.

I was able to set it up with my 318. It was a tight and dificult task but it is doable.

I put my original ARB air pump and tank under the driver side passinger seat for a couple of years, until I replaced the (used) worn out unit with a Cadillac air pump and home built air chamber. It was kind of tight, but it never overheated, even when filling with the leaky chamber.

If you don't have any air leaks it doesn't run enought to get that hot and if you are filling tires and running it a lot, just lift the seat. I did contemplate putting a 12v computer cooling fan with a piece of ducting for fresh air to help cool it when the old tank was leaking and causing the pump to run too much. But I solved that issue by rebuilding the old unit for a short time period and then replacing it with the Caddy pump and seperate tank.

maracucho, I looked there briefly and didn't think it was possible. Guess I was wrong! I had already looked at everybodies pics I could find before I posted for ideas. I ended up buying an intake tube and filter off ebay for $30+$20 shipping. So now I'll have room under the hood. And as an added bonus, with this blingin' chrome tube and blue filter, my jeeps gonna go faster and wheel better than ever before!

Holy crap dude! I measured, and pondered, and stared... never thought it would fit in there. WELL DONE! :partyman: :drinkers:
