Does anybody know what size self threading bolts Kevin uses in his rock sliderz, i need to pick some up at a hardware store so if you have any information on them it would be appreciated. I cant find it on his website. I know i need a 5/16 bit to drill the holes.

If I can find where the hell I put mine, I'll let you know. I have 3/8" bolts for mine, but they aren't the bolts from Kevin.

If you are drilling a 5/16 hole I would imagine that 3/8 self tappers would work fine.. But 7/16 would be tight ...

I guess I could measure the head of one of mine if you dont have an answer by tommorow...

i was considering just welding it to the frame rail. Bad idea? hell the long arms already put me at the point of no return.

Like swampy said -

5/16 drill = 3/8 tap - or a 3/8 self tapping bolt.

I've drilled and tapped enough 3/8 holes lately, I'm starting to dream about it. Turned into a nightmare when I snapped off the tap.

Weld it if you want but use the bolts as well.. There is not as much shock load strength in a weld.. the weld could crack and break loose the bolt will still be there...

If the welding is done right, it will be just as strong as bolting it. I made mine bolt on still just in case I need to pull them off at some point or another to repair/replace them, etc.

Yeah, Hank I agree with the taping. Alot of holes!

Ah I forgot to look. I found the bag that had all those bolts in this afternoon too. I think they are 1/2" If you want them, give me a few $$ for shipping and I can mail them to you. I have no need for them.

sorry forgot to update, I got the sliderz reinforced to the point i shouldnt have to worry about them anymore. Thanks for your help (3/8" self tapping bolts worked great with the 5/16" drill bit.) My brother machined me a plate to fit between each side of claytons crossmember. Instead of it sandwiching the crossmember it sits below it but is bolted up with the 3/8 bolts. Thanks Alot
