This is on an 8.8", but any axle would apply.

Question I have is has there been any problems with the 4 link truss breaking off/flexing? I was showing some build pics to a few guys, and that was a question they asked... where does the truss tie into the diff?

I was thinking of running a piece of tube to the pad by the pinion for the extra support. Worth my time, or just overkill??

I've yet to hear of one breaking off, although I have a weld on mine breaking. I'm pretty sure that it was welded on too cold in the first place though.

ive seen some builds with like a rock ring that has a tab coming off the top with several bolt holes in it
the truss has a a matching tab on it and the two pieces are mounted together with several grade 8's (so the diff cover is removable)

Nate,

The 8.8 I bought off NBaldwin actually has a piece of square tube comming off the truss just like you explained. I will try to get a pic or two this weekend to show you what he did.

I like the idea of tying it into the diff cover bolts.

Also if you wanted to make your own diff over, the PS rock ring would be a great place to start

Yes Chase, we all know that Jarod does good work on you're jeep (someone has to.)

Now go drive over a shopping cart or something.

If it's held up to his heavy Jesus-Sandal-clad foot, it's gotta be good enough!

Ya know I do do some of my own work... I just don't take that many pictures of it (and for you my nerd friend, I guess I have to start too).

Be sure to post of pix of that "clean" front fender trimming job you did  (just kidding man, I am sure once you sobered up you have fixed it, right?)

Yea actually... I trimmed it out another about inch or so with my 4.5" grinder and it cleaned up nicely. I also re-did most of my really gheto welds.

There is a brake line tab mount bolt on the top of the diff. I used mine as a relationship point but ended up keeping bolted in to the plate. (mine is built from plate to get the most clearence on top of the diffe between the floor pan and it.) I also used the snubber pad next to the yoke.

Yeah I'm going to wait until I have the UCA tabs in and see what I can do to brace it. I was wondering what that bolt hole on the top of the diff was for.
