i need a little help placing these upper link mounts.

lift is 4", going to 5.5" at some point.
lower link 39.5"
front verticle separation 3-4.5" (adjustable)
rear separation 6.5"

with the uca mount placed as in the pic, upper link length will be 33.75"

I street/highway drive A LOT- DD. would like to shoot for a neutral squat #, maybe a bit positive. this is looking to me to be 110%ish?

-how's this looking, have i completely fucked squat theory?
-should my upper links be longer?
-enough vert sep at front mounts?

Wait are you building 5 link or 4 link?

You want your uppers to be atleast as long as the lowers or longer than the lowers. When the lowers are longer, the pinion tends to rotate down through the suspension cycle (bad). With longer uppers, it rotates up (good).

110% should give you a slight uplift but IMO I wouldn't venture any lower than that

-enough vert sep at front mounts?

I haven't woken up yet so I am still a bit groggy... Are you asking if you have enough vertical seperation at the UCA frame mounts? You posted "5 link" but I am asuming you're building 4 link then... if I'm right then you'll want to venture over to Pirate4x4.com and search for the 4 link calc dubbed "4barlink3.0". Plug in your numbers there and you'll get a complete readout of if you set your suspension up right. If I remember right, you want a negative or as close to zero roll axis as possable. I would run the calc, post your findings and let other people figure it out as well. And if I am wrong, and you are building 5 link then you don't need to worry about seperation because your trackbar is what centers the rear axle.

ya, 5link. tracbar.

i was asking about the distance from the upper to lower mount, too.
(rear frame mount vert. separtation)

thx.

If you're going as far as to making LA, why not go 4 link? IMO you'll be much happier in the long run.

I don't know much about 5 link long arm so if somebody cuts in, IMO take their word over mine. Stock, the short arms are pretty much equal length and mounted parallel to eachother. When you begin to triangulate the arms doing the LA setup, you're creating some binding. I don't know exactly how much but your susp[ension cycle is going to be in two different dirrections: one swiveling on the trackbar and the other swiveling from the frame (kinda the same way you figured out your AS).

i set up a nice axle (for now) for short arms. i'm re-using those brakets(not changing axle).

if i decide to go bigger, i'll ditch the tracbar.

but for now, i just need the info on 5link, not get on a tangent debate.
thx.

i looked around some and moved the uca mount.

Looks really good ChopShop...

I think that your UCA/LCA placement is very similar to Clayton's 5-link setup. I think the vertical separation is more important at the axle side than the frame side. You've got enough adjustment going there that you should be able to dial in your AS to what you want.

cool. i ran the #'s on it and stuff, but really, it's about what others have done, and seeing if i can find a nice middle ground of everyone.

this is like the whore of rear suspensions.

if it'll deal with 33"s and 36"s for a while- maybe 1.5-2 years, then i'll be happy.

thx for anymore input you guys have...

no, i have 33's. the knobby ones are Michelin 36x9x16.

they have a lot of meat on them to cut. sidewalls are supposed to be really tough. canadian military uses them. they're dot ok.

any thoughts on the suspension, tho?
