This is like the 3rd cat that gets all loose inside and cloggs up. I need to make a exhaust skid plate or something lol. I think I'll just use the sawzall and make a "high flow" cat. 95's and down aren't effected by "adjusting" the cat are they?

My cat disappeared one day after taking it to an exhaust shop. I didn't complain. It's a 96, and I have an upstream and downstream sensor.

I have a 95 without a cat and no they are not affected. Unless you are worried about blowing EGRs, not sure if it is fully related but I think so. Never had EGR problems until after no cat and then it ate three quickly.

oh I'm not really worried about anything. Just kinda frustrated because I don't want to spend any more money on it basically.

obdII (96+) monitors cat efficiency with the downstream sensor. 93-95s do not. pulling the cat on a 96+ should throw a MIL(did on mine), and a casper's o2 sim will fix that right up. 93-95 shouldn't have any problems, but i hope you can live with destroying our envirhahahahaha.

A ZJ w/o a cat it probably cleaner than their ratty Subaru waggons, Toyota/Datsun/Nissan/Ford/Chevy... trucks, VW/Toyota vans, and other various beaters that they keep driving because they get two miles per gallon better fuel mileage than our ZJs and WJs. Think how much cleaner the air would be if they would upgrade to the mid 90s. Oh yea, how much freon do they leak?

Disclaimer: I'm all for a built and tuned VW--and other--engines so VW fans don't flame me.

hell, you can find "test pipes" that are made to take the place of a cat.
