headers? no
header? yes
:finga:

a friend of mine just got a nice looking header off of ebay for relatively inexpensive. installation went fairly smooth i suppose and i think it comes with a 5 year warranty or something. search NAGCA/JU for Danman421.

I installed a Banks on my wife's 97XJ in January. Only moderate power gains, decent increase in throttle response and it really smoothed the idle out. Overall I'd recommend it, just don't expect a major HP increase.

Was not looking for alot of HP just looking for something to last longer than the stock manifold. Mine is cracked again and rather than weld it up I might as well go with a header and call it good.

Cue,

I put a Thorley header on my ZJ back in 2001. I bought the full Kolak (carsound cat, flowmaster muffler, leach rear tail pipe, thorley header) exhaust from Kolak. :supz: I had to have a pipe custom made to fit from the header to the cat. In my own opinion it sounds better and the throttle responds is better also. What really made the exhaust sound better was the cone air filter that I put on before I finally put the snorkle on. I think I paid a total of $1100 for parts and having a shop weld everything up.

That's way more than I want to spend right now. I really don't want to do much exhaust work as it will all get changed once the long arms go in.

What do you guys think of this one on ebay?

Damn... Dirk... I would just buy one of them off ebay... can't be that bad for 70 bucks plus shipping. Not really much risk and I'm sure it would be better than the crappy stock one.

Yea that is kind of what I am leaning towards, I am waiting to hear back from one place about a price on a Banks header, but not sure what bang for the buck that will get me.

I hate to blow all my cash on exhaust when i am trying to get the long arms all situated.

The Banks header is around $450-500. They are nice though

Hey Dirk,

Nate's right on with the $$ for the Banks.

Here's a deal for you. The stock header off my wife's is not cracked that I can find. If you cover shipping, it's yours for the asking.

That ebay one won't work. It is not tall enough, meaning there is not enough tube between the mounting flange and the collector clamp.

I run a borla. Nice piece for the money. Although it has a small crack on the number 1 port near the flange that I need tiged up. 60K miles

That ebay one that you had is just like the one I have...maybe a different dealer..I can't remember. I have had mine on for prob. 10k miles with no probs, and it fit fine.

Ive had Borla on my ZJ, and it cracked to hell... They gave my such a run around about the "million mile warranty" I just said screw it and I tossed it in the garbage where it belongs.

They wanted me to ship it to them while they determine if it was manufactures defect or incorrecly installed, or abused. Keep in mind it broke while it was still shiny.

"Sure... let me pop off the whole fucking exhaust and ship it to you and not run any exhaust while you fucktards "determine" that your POS cracked." That was my response :finga:

Borla BITES.

now Banks has been the best to work with... Excellent product and SUPRE EZ install. and best of all, ZERO problems.

Had my Borla on for a year now, love it. For $150 shipped I'm rather pleased.

V8 though.

I only paid about $350 for my thorley header. I had it crack because of bad engine and transmission mounts. I contacted Thorley and they shipped me a new one after one phone call. Once it arrived I took off the broken one (that's when I actually learned why it broke) I shipped it back to Thorley. No questions or concerns were raised by Thorley. Personal recommendation is for a Thorley header. Contact Kolak@aol.com for current pricing......

Well I am going to take Dave up on his offer to send me the one from his wife's for free. I got a price on the Banks one from 4x4groupbuy.com of $410 shipped.

Well right now I am trying to work a deal on a set of long arms so free works much better than $410 right now.
