Even thought these are for the ZJ, I decided to get a set thinking that I could figure out how to make them work on my WJ. I probably could find a way to get them on there eventually, but I thought I'd see what anyone else has done first. I could really use the protection since I've already bashed one mount up pretty good. So... what do you think is the best rout to install these on a WJ?

It's a piece of steel with two bends in it :weedman:

If you're not into heating 3/16" steel and pounding it over your vice (since i for one don't have a brake style ender) I guess it's worth it...

Haha you are all wrong as to what exactly they are. Not sure if its plausible to add the to a wj. Lets see a pic of a wj mount up close so everyone can take a look at the mount. Price kevin charges is for the labor of cutting the material. It sure beats cutting the stuff yourself unless you have a bandsaw. I'll tell you tomorrow if they can be added to a wj and how since i'm working on one tomorrow.

LOL

The "great knowing MC" thats just too funny. Kevins Skids are just pieces of 3" 1/4" channel iron cut on a 45*

Try Curries those are pimp... "just bent flat plate"
but for like what... $14 its not bad or worth the hastle of "building"

thanks nathaniel. my biggest problem is that I have close to zero tools for cutting/fabbing steel. Sure, I have some buddies who have some tools, but convenience is a big factor. Let me know what you find out. If it won't work, I'll just figure something else out- isn't that the fun part about building up a jeep anyway?

I agree with AW here, $14 is not a bad price in any way shape or form. I'd say in this case Kevins charging you more for a service of making it than a finished product.

I got kevin's LCA skids for christmas so it was a nice little present, i figure they'll at least protect something when i get them welded on my HP30. Those mounts are pretty notorious for being flimsy.

You're telling me.

Oh and don't give me shit about my TB mount I'm aware of the situation and plan on getting an adjustable TB asap.

Just weld a piece of 3/16 or 1/4 plate across the mount. If you've done enough work on your Jeep, I'm sure you have a piece or two laying somewhere in the garage.
On a WJ it's already done for you from the factory... well ok, it's the thin sheetmetal shit, but still.

WJ's don't need them.
The LCA mounts are already tied together like a "C" in the front and the mounts are thicker steel then the ZJ's. Dave and I were looking at the the ZJ and WJ mounts when he folded his over on Steel Bender last year.

Thanks John, that's good to know. I bent one of the mounts really bad last time I was out wheeling, but it has held up well so far. If I end up doing any more damage to it I might have to get some protection though.

I have hit mine hard and the sides are still straight, the "C" part is banged up a bit, but I still jack on the front of the Jeep using them.

What did you do to bend it?

You could box it a bit on the bottom, but not all the way or the LCA will hit it during flex.

they are ok i guess
closer to $25 shipped now i believe

they are channel with an angled cut in them. they kinda sick out pretty far and dont really tie into the axle. i added a 3/16" plate that ties it into the axle. i would probably go with the jks ones if they were not $35

What did you do to bend it?

I dropped the front wheel into a hole and the full weight of the jeep fell onto the point of a rock, right onto the mount. Actually, the more I look at the it, the more I see what you're getting at. The "C" part is bent all out of shape, but the core of the mount is still in working order.

If I continue to beat the thing up I'll look at boxing in the lower part in a bit, otherwise I'll just run it till it falls apart.

Thanks for the help.
