I spent like an hour looking for the NAGCA thread... can somebody link me to the thread where people where cutting out their rockers just below the B,C pillars and replacing it with box tubing?

See if this is what you want...
http://mallcrawlin.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=51&highlight=rocker or just search for "rocker"

Alright Puma, you created an endless loop. :supz:

In that itsajeep thread I point them back to MallCrawlin.

Okay, maybe only amusing to those that code.

But you do have to wonder how many people will run in circles following the two links ... or not. :toimonst:

I need to take some close ups, but heres the best photo I have on hand of my cut out rockers. They are 4 1/2" taller than my old after market sliders. I plan on doing a real write up after I get them powder coated. Yes, they are bolt on. My first plan was to weld them, but the way I designed them it wouldn't have made it much stronger and this way they can be powder coated.

Watch out. if the sheet metal above the cut out rocker gets dented then you will lose all of you upper suport and the slider will crunch into the bottom of your doors. This happend to mine. so now i tyed it into the frme.

Upper bolts come from inside the body.

I should have made the frame sleave 47" long but I got a 6' scrap and cut it in half. The spacing of the frame supports could be improved also. They perform great, I can hi lift it up and open the doors as if it were sitting on the ground.

They still are unfinished and if I were to do it again there are plenty of changes I would make, but overall I am satisfied.

Risko did it. but he did the same as me and not brace to the frame. ;ile i said befor this IS a must.

Xj's don't have to because there rocker is designed a little difrent.

One other thing if you didn't knwo is that ZJ rockers have the A and B pillard extend into them. you have to modify those to make the Cut out Rockers fit.

You can see the inside of the rocker here. Keep in mind that the B pillar you see there is modified. it actualy hangs down about another 2"

You can see how i trimmed it and then welded in some angle. Normally that b pillar is spot welded to the inner rocker.

the A pillar doens't have to be touched if you notich your Sliders.

this is how i notched them

These worked OK. but i slide into a tree sideways and put a small dent into my sheet metal above the rocker. You can see it there. Once that happend it lost all strength.

This is how it should look if your going to brace it into the frame.

Hope this helps.

on a side not Nate Cannon but his rockers too. Except i dont' think he welded anything back in yet. Or he didn't for a very long time.

If you did it the way I did mine you wouldn't have to notch anything. Then you can cap the B pillar the way Kraqa did on his old setup. I planned to put a bolt from the inside of the B pillar into the slider but never got around to it. You can see the Bpillar in this shot.

i dont' knwo if you have done this already btu you should reconnect that b piller to the body. if you open all your doors and lift gate and push on your b pillar it will actually move. the bottom tie in provide alot of the unibody support. that angle wasnt' to cap the b pillar if was to tei it back in with the body.

I haven't tied it in yet. I plan on attatching it to both the slider and body.
