I have a 14-bold shaved. A D60 front with 5.13 gears with dual detroits. I'll be running mostly mud and logging roads. I have been looking at either 37X13 or 38.5X11. I have heard that the tall skinny tires are better for lighter rigs in the mud but how would they be on the trail? Any input/flaming/advice is welcome.

Skinny tires blow. Especially in the mud. In the gumbo around here there *IS* no bottom, so wider is always better. I hate pizza cutters. Go with the largest and widest bogger you can fit if you're running mud.

i'm assuming this is a zj we're talking about.... got any pics of your rig? I want to see what kind of suspension. steering, etc you have created to run 38" tires.

depends on what kind of mud you have. Out here, I vote skinny.

IN Louisiana wider is better... Bottomless soft mud here as well... :D

What do others in your area run.. I think that would be the best way around this dilema.... 8)

I don't have the suspension in yet. I was going to gear it around which tires I want to run. Right now I have Kevin's LA kit waiting to be installed. But it looks like it is going to be a pain since it is so specifically designed to bolt to the existing axle bracketry. I am probably going to end up with Claytons set up. It seems to be much more generic in how it fits. It should be around 7" but I have 2" pucks I could put on it. Most of the people around here have F350s with 460s and 44s. I think I'll be running the 37X13s. I know its stupid but I don't like the way pizza cutters look.

Kevin's Kit could be made pretty easily to fit your axles since the mounting points are pretty generic. the rear truss can be welded directly to the axle tubes the last one I did I replced the vertical pieces with 3/16" wall and welded them to an 8.8
The front could be made to fit by coping the ends of the front truss and possibly lengthening it in the middle. kevin can also get the adj. tube for the front in any length you want.

I'm going to try and make Kevin's kit work before I try something else. I have a BTF truss for the 14-bolt in the rear that I would like utilize. But thanks everyone for their input. I will order my 37X13 boggers on monday. :D

the 38.5X11 boggers spec at 9.25" tread width which is narrower than the 35X10.5's even. I saw them in person and thought they looked ridiculous, i didn't get to see them in action though, the guy was afraid to take his pretty ram away from the mall

sounds like the 37X13's will work well for your application :smt023
