I did a 231 swap into our ZJ and while I was at it I decided to go ahead and do the SYE kit at the same time. I used the Advanced Adpters kit and a J.E. Reel driveshaft. I have used this same setup on our XJ and it works great . No vibes or other problem at all. Hope this helps. Later...Clint

I take it you're running an 8.8 in the rear? Where'd you get that yoke from? The new shaft looks really high quality.. mind if I ask how much it ran you?

same yoke I got for mine, ford carries it for $24.

just curious why you needed the SYE kit though?

Keep in mind first of all I am using a Ford 8.8 which has an off set in the center section. So there were some vibes that were there when I bought it. I also wanted to drop the angle of the rear pinion and was not able to do this with the driveshaft that was in the ZJ. it would have come apart with the vibes it would have caused. I know a lot of folks might think the SYE kit is just used for the vibe issues but it also cures another problem that I am all sure you have seen. The rear pinion seal. With the slip yoke...the yoke slides in and out all the time taking dirt and grime in and out and that seal never seems to last anytime at all. With the flange on the SYE...you never have that problem. Also...with out this kit your u-joints are working their butts off because of the angles. The SYE kit solves that problem as well by making the driveshaft a little over 4 inches longer. I have used this kit and setup on other jeeps of ours and it seems to cure a lot of problems. If you are not having problems with vibration, having to replace your u-joints, replacing the pinion seal... then cool...dont worry about it. I really wanted longivity and no problems down the road. I drive this jeep a lot and also wheel it very hard...so I dont need any problems. There is nothing like driving 13 hours to Moab and a dang u-joint breaks the first day you get there... Later...Clint
