ok, I was thinking a few things out earlier. I want to trim a bit and hop up to 33's. currently running the rear 35C with the 30 up front with 3.73's. I have an EZ Locker in the rear. how unsafe would it be to run 33's? and does anyone have a 4.10 or 4.56 gear set they want to part with?

the 35 will hold for a while at least for the street, but it will eventually blow. dont waste money putting gears in it

you really think I would be ok? I have been running the locker for 4 plus years without any problems and don't want to start having any, lol

umm i thought i said it would not be "ok"

the 35 will eventually bust with locked 33's and hard wheeling

the 30 will hold up just fine

go with 4.56 or lower (4.88 ) if you do regear

And I should know this, but which upgrade is the easiest to do from the salvage yard?

None... Unless you want to swap in a 44AL...

8.8 is the usuall choice but its not an easy job.. And nowhere near bolt in...

you know i have to say it, but swamp boy nailed it. if you can find one cheap and you want bolt in performance, swap in an al44, weld 'er up and you should have no issues w/ 33's. i wouldn't even spend the money on regearing. you should be ok w/ 33's and 3.73.

By cheap, I hope you mean free.

I was told that the d35 is stronger than the aluminum d44, am I wrong?

Stronger is a pretty relative term..

The AL44 can withstand more torque and stress, but I wouldn't say that makes it stronger with the track records some of us have had with them.

IMNSHO, they're both crap and never should've come into existence.
