My second post, so take it easy on me. I have a 96 with the 4.0, np242, and all options except leather. Even have the stock 3.73's with front 297 joints. I am currently at 3 1/2in with fixed RE CA's, RE adjustable front track bar, extended rear bracket, no front sway bar, extended rear links. Also running V8 steering setup. I am thinking of adding the 3/4in spacers I picked up on ebay and dropping the tcase 1in. I currently run 31x10.50 Claw radials on 767's with rear EZLocker. I am happy with 31's for now and don't plan on going to 33's for a bit.

the question is, you guys think it's worth the extra effort just to gain 3/4in more lift?

If you're happy with 31's dont go any higher. You don't even need to go higher for 33's if you and the sawzall are on good terms.

yeah, I thought of that. but a little restricted on gearing and not sure the rear d35 can handle that much.

So stick with 31's until you can swap in an 8.8.

I have access to 8.8's all day long, just not the money to do the swap.

You could add the 2 inch spacer and run 32s or 33s with some trimming and leave out the locker. Why do you say that you're limited on gears?

I've gone from 3.73 to 4.10 and now 4.56s.

Overkill will probably move this to newbie tech but before that happens,

you could run a limited slip if you're worried about snapping the 35. I ran an open 35 for 4 years before swapping it out for a super 35 with detroit.

Did that when I made my first reply.

I was referring to not upgrading right now. Limited as to the tire size with 3.73's. I am fully aware of available gearing.

did you miss the part where I already have the detroit?

Had disconnects to start and then took it off over Memorial day weekend 2000 and just never put it back on. As heavy as the ZJ is, I don't worry much about it. Taken 5 or 6 road trips since in it and never had a problem.

Yeah,

I caught all in your first post. I was refering to the point that your ezlocker won't work with the super 35.

You can run 33s with the 3.73 with a little loss of power. You'll be downshifting alot to keep going.

my old 4.0 was a dog with 31's, don't do tires until you can do axle and gears

I never said anything about running a super 35 kit.

Actually, I do great with 31's. you may have had different gearing. the 3.73's do pretty good with 31's.

I was thinking that you wanted to upgrade the rear axle because of the one post of an 8.8.

I guess you have all the answers you need.
