How far is the hotel from the staging area? Also how far is the staging area from KOA?

The KOA is about 5 minutes from the staging area. The hotel is about 25 minutes.

i stayed in one of those kabins last year and it was great. I'll probably sleep in my truck this year if I go since I can't justify paying 20 bucks to pitch a tent at the KOA. Maybe someone can show me an easily accessible camping spot nearby.

Still working on getting the time off

I will be camping too. I am saving money for my Chicago, New Orleans and Las Vegas trips.

Recommended hotel appears full. I really don't feel like camping if I don't have to since I like showers. Any other motel or hotel options? Cheap motels near the staging area would be nice.

It is!!!! Well, that sucks. I was waiting to hear from someone before calling in my reservations. Well, I'm not going to camp & I'm NOT going to drive all over Arizona to get to the statging area. It's been looking more & more like I might not make it down . This is just one more shove in that direction.

Sandy, This is what I foung on Map Quest. #2 is the Hampton Inn now not Comfort Suites. Same address anyway.

Thanks Scott. I did not call in to make a reservation. I tried to do it online last night but nothing was available for the nights I picked (10, 11 & 12). I don't mind driving a little to the staging area each day, but frankly, I have no idea yet where that is either. Anyway, I want to attend. I have the time set aside and I really just need to find lodging in reasonable proximity to where we stage. If you locate anything, let me know. I'll work on it again tonight and I will actually call the Hampton Inn. I guess the first thing that I need to know is more specifics on where we stage. Hope to see you there.

Is 2502 W. New River Road, New River the Table Mesa staging area and the motel, or is it just the closest motel?

I thought you had called. They may still have rooms for the GSSW block they saved. We'll have to call & find out. I know the staging area is 15 minutes north from the Hampton Inn. It's not that far really. Next one is another 25 minutes south I think.

I stayed in the KOA last year which is about 5 minutes from the staging area. We rented one of the Kabins and it was really nice--not big but really clean, had a couple beds, porch, bbq, table. The KOA had a pool, pool table, little store, and a pool/hot tub. It was way better than I had expected.

The info for the KOA is floating around here somewhere. I have their number at home if you want it.

Hampton is full...it is the only hotel in the Anthem area.

I made some quick calls to try and help out. I don't have any experience with either but both have availablity. North Phoenix area off of the I17 fwy is going to be your best bet. Post back with a location or PM me and I will try to tell you if it sounds close enough.

Country Inn Suites: About 10 minutes south of Anthem. Rooms available starting at $159/night K or 2 Q

Thanx David. I'm booked at the Sleep Inn North for the 10th (very late arrival), 11th & 12th. I hope that I can meet someone or figure out how to get to our staging area the next morning. :yawinkle: Scott, why don't you book there too? AAA rate is $90 + tax per night.

The Hampton is full! Fawk, who fills a large hotel in Anthem in March besides us?

Do the KOA cabins have bathrooms/ showers? Late check ins? any additional info would be nice.

Thanx

The kabins don't have bathrooms in them, but the KOA has them and they weren't bad at all.

Kevin,
Why not consider the Sleep Inn North as David suggested? Do you know something that I don't?

I am booking at the sleep inn. Won't get in until Friday night late, just would prefer to be closer, it is 15 miles south of the Hampton. The Sleep inn is cheap though.

So you're missing day 1?

Unfortunately, the girlfriend couldn't get that Friday off. Kinda short notice I guess, don't get me started... I called the Sleep inn, their AAA rate went up to $98. So I checked Hotels.com and found a place a mile north of the Sleep Inn for $85. So we'll see everyone Sat morning.
