I run the Warn M8000 and have been really happy with it.

But I know several guys that run MM ones and they love theirs. One of the guys I know actually has one of the MM hydrolic wiches and it seems pretty awesome actually, might want to consider that also.

from what I read on PBB- T-maxx and MM are the same...

Go warn

Like i was talkin to mendo about, i've seen warn's die. The m8000 imo is an "OK" winch, but with what we do, i've seen it stall totally and pulls a draw that is way too much for a little 8k. Another guy had a 9.5i that pretty much exploded and wasnt' covered under warrenty, so around $300 in parts later and a lot of labor it was back in action.

The only good thing about warn's are the line speed...which seriously, when your stuck, u have all the time in the world...unless the cops are chasing you on posted land!!

I'd try the T-max, and i dont think you can go wrong with a 12k MM over a weeny 8k warn.

And you should then be promptly drawn and quartered by 4 winches . . . . .

For the prices you mentioned I would probably go with the 12K pound Mile Marker myself (if it will fit in your bumper that is :D )

I have one, never used it though!

Major cutting / welding to get it into my ARB, but it kinda fit, LOL

last time i was at URE one of the TJ guys there from the local 4x4 club had a t-max (8k lb i think?) and it snatched a stuck YJ like it was NOTHING. I agree when getting winched, line speed should be the least of your worries.

As far as I know are only the 11.000 T-Max, and 12.000MM the same winch.

no complaints with my milemarker 9k, but i have heard several times that the milemarker 8k is a piece of shit taht breaks all the time. My dad also runs a warn m8k...and it is what it is, we have never had any probs. with it.

we can all get naked and do a little fire dance for Warn...but i surely don't think that they have the market cornered in any way, shape, or form.

My ramsey 12k re series will pull the balls off any warn on any day. If they use them on 5 ton wreckers, its going to be good enough for me.

Warn's quality has gone downhill. They've been bought out. Milemarker is slow as fuck. T-Max is made in China I believe. Ramsey is sub-par. As soon as I can find/build an acceptable winch bumper, I'm going with a Superwinch. They come highly recommended to me, and the price is right:

I had a Warn X9000i and it has been nothing but problems.. Everytime I get ready to go I test it.. Then I get in the woods and either I get stuck or someone else does.. I string out the cable and ................................. Nothing...... So I wrap the cable around my bumper and spend the rest of the day looking like a redneck...

It has happened to me so many times that I removed the winch from the bumper.. I would rather have no winch at all than have that stupid cable wrapped around my bumper...

Thanks for the link to the Super Winch Jim.. I am going to buy one of those very soon...

I think Warn only lives off its name anymore... I don't think that they are better or worse than the others. Except maybe the 8274, but for our Jeeps the 8274 just isn't big enough.

Take a look at that:

This is a Warn XD9000i after 4 trips and 9 months of use...

8274 is plenty big for a ZJ. Now getting it to fit on the front takes a bit of work.

I'm not arguing the anti-Warn stuff. If you don't like Warn, that's fine. Get whatever winch you want. I just expressed my opinions.

Warn has a lifetime warranty which is nice.

They all have problems... I have seen Warns go up in smoke as well as others... they aren't prefect.

Deadman, you been driving in salt water??

This is not my winch, I have a 11.000 Tmax.

That Warn was mounted on a Land Rover:

No salt water, just mud... I am not saying that my tmax would look any better after that use. But in Germany I can buy 3 T-max for the price of one Warn.

whats the max amount of weight u can pull with a ZJ anyways? like could i anchor myself to a tree and pull a f350 up a hill or even out of mud on flat ground? if not could u just reinforce the frame?
