i may be able to get a ford front d44 with drum brakes for real cheap. how hard is it to convert it to disc? if so can i change it to 5 on 4.5 to fit my 8.8?

more info??
im guessing it is a 1960-early 70's hp44 out of like a f150, in which case i think the best thing would be to swap in like a late 70's hp44 outer knuckes with discs

you will need a bigger bolt pattern to clear the hubs

its gonna be wide, about 7" wider than stock. get it if you want to, but it is going to take several hundered to convert it to discs, make steering, get matching wheels, and fab up ZJ LCA/UCA brackets for it
$100 is a pretty good price

it's not that hard, just need new outers...
that being said, it's not a closed knuckle, kingping axle is it?

That old it'll have the smaller u-joints and necked down axles.

it's actually weaker than what you have now in terms of axles and u-joints

i have some different knuckes that had discs on them but they are off a chebby, like 79 or 80 model k10....will they work instead of the drum knuckes or are they the same?

you could piece it together and make it work if you can round up all the parts. you will have to use older chevy d44 spindles with ford hubs if want the ford bolt pattern.
