I am new to the MallCrawlin.com, but been browsin NAGCA.com for some time now under the name BiG98ZJ. I recently had a 91 XJ on 33's, and a 2000 Honda CBR 600 F4, and sold them both to buy a 98 5.2 ZJ. I've had the jeep for about 2 months now, and from day one ive planned on turning this grocery getter into a wheelin machine, and this is what i got to start.
-Kevins Adj. Long Arm kit.
-Rubicon 8 inch springs
-Addco Front and rear sway's.
-JKS Discos
-33' BFG Mud Terrains mounted on a 15x8 MT Classic II
I ordered everything a week after i bought the jeep, and am still waiting for one more component from Kevin. but in the meantime ive been looking for a 8.8, so i dont waste money gearin the d35. If i ever figure out how to post pics i will.. So as soon as i get all the farm equipment out of the shop, ill begin the install. till then, have a good one.

8" = lotsa lift for 33's. bring it down to a more reasonable level like 5-6" and run 33-35's.
if you are set on 8", you will definatley be needing some sort of hi-steer or crossover steering and 37's on fullwidths minimum

Nice... looks like you're going all out... save a little money for driveshafts as you MAY need a new front one as well as maybe xtending the rear

first..i wanna c where you buy 8" rubicon springs..

I agree, i'd run like 4.5" RE springs and 35's and it'll go everywhere.

RE makes a 7" front spring... at a 1" puck to the front and RE 3.5" lift front springs to the rear and you're at 7-8" of lift

33's put on like a 4" lift and you got 33's
8" gives you space for 36's+

yeah... i know, i just didnt want to hack my fenders yet without bumpers, and im low on $$$ so i couldnt gear it till i get more cash. it will look a little goofy with 33's for a while, but i just want to get it up and runnin' and worry bout it later. ive seen a couple grands with 7-8 inchs of lift with 33's and doesnt look bad, and still goes where it wants too..

They've said it before and I'll say it again... if you put 8" of lift to run 33" tires, I just might BAN your for jeeping stupidity.

3" with cutting, 4.5 without, otherwise you're driving a leaning tower of Pisa.

I don't know... With mine at 4.5" I had to cut the front and rear bumpers, a bit of sheemetal up by the bumpers, trim pinch weld in the front. Also I extended the front bumpstops (a hockey puck plus REs bumpstop worked for me) because I was rubbing apart the front fenders when turning.

It's not major stuff at all, but they is still some cutting involved.

I can send you 4.56's from a d44 and a d30, but I already cracked the gears!

Honesly, I don't think you're going to be happy that high. Infact, I know you're not. Unless you're intending it to be a stree only rig, but then you're REALLY on the wrong forum.

I'm at 5.5 running 35's, contemplating 36's...

I'm at 33s with a sagging "3 inch" lift, but then again I don't mind cutting.

I live in Oregon, and am about an hour away from some of the best dunes on the west coast. If youve never wheeled at the dunes, your missin out. Theres nothin like hittin mobles at 65 mph, and havin all four tires just stuffin in ur fenders! I dont think i could do that with 38's.. Once i get everything installed ill post pics of those 33's bein stuffed into my fenders, and having my suspension maxed out. In about 8 months ill have probably have 35's with 4.56's and an 8.8, but i didnt want to be a dip shit and roll 35's on stock gears and axles, that would've been pathetic...

Since you obviously have no desire to listen to the opinions of those of us who have done this again and again, why bother being a member of the forum?

those 38's stuff really nice

bending sheetmetal is going to be the least of your concerns. plan of bending the axles and ripping the LCA+ UCA mounts off the unibody

extra shocks do wounderfull things if you like to be airborn.
Although with out reinforcing the controll arm mounts you will find yourself in trouble soon enough.

Hey dave this is fun and entertaining, we will hear back from him later to see what has broken. "if your going to be dumb you gotta be tough"
One thing i will say though, if your going to put all the money and time into it to run 8" do it right its allot cheaper. and ill sell you a set of 35"s for it 33's will look like scooter wheels.

nate

Even 35s are borderline skooter wheels with that much lift.

Not taking it personal or anything, " I must have been a dip shit for the past couple of years". 35's would be fine on stock axles and gears. I ran that setup fo like 2 years on SA's. if you go 8" get 35's at least like everyone else is saying. IMO

i have a 6" short arm with 32s and i rub everywhere even with a lot of trimming in the front...every time i stop on the trail i have to re-attach both of my factory bumpers! of course i dont have any bumpstop extensions so maybe thats why?

you trim your bumpers? i'm at 4.5" and 34's and i rub very little. I trimmed the back of the rocker pannel, the pinch seam in the front wheel well and both bumpers, but that's it.

yea maybe if you left the stock front bumper on there. that thing hangs lower than a damn honda body kit. I'm at 4" and 32's and i dont rub anywhere, even at full flex.

i've taken the whole lower part of the bumper off and about 4" off the corners, but the front bumber is not the problem its all the supports and metal body inside the fenderwell that i tear up...ive even rubbed tire on the charcoal canister

Matt

Did you adjust the CA's any from what they were at when I sent them to you? When I first bought me RE4.5" and 2" pucks I ran 32's. I had no rubbing at all. Then I went to 33" boggers and didn't rub much, but beat the hell out of the front fenders. At that height you could clear 35's with a little trimming. Show us some pics Matt.. What rims are you running, and what back space?

have u done this yet...
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/1/web/721000-721999/721887_12_full.jpg

i have 35's on a 5.5" lift and the only place i rub is up inside the fender well when i'm completley flexed out.plus my bumpstop are too small...
if u put ur bumpstops in it will make a diff.

ok here are some pics....made a few adjustments here and there but not much im running 6" of lift i think..i havent measured it. I have stock front springs in the rear w/ a 2" spacer. In the front i have 4" TJ springs w/ 2" spacer and the jeep is level front and rear so i assume that it is around 6" ive trimmed the bottom of the front bumper and the pinch weld in the well plus i took like 2 or 3 inches off the fender in the front. the rear tires take the bumper off every time. and the front wheels catch the wheel well around the horn and charcoal canister mostly although they sometimes get into the top of the well.

i think if i extend the bump stops a lttle that will help...right now they are stock
