Anybody know what transfer case is in a 86 ford f350 4x4? I need to get a tow rig and there is one for sale around here, but it needs t-case work. Looking for something halfway inexpensive, and I can fit the kids in. I haven't gone to look at so I was just curious if anybody knows whta it is. It is a crew cab 4x4, and I think it is a longbed from what I can tell in the picture. It is not a diesel. Any general consensus on this truck as tow rig? Is $2,000 fair?

I think the easiest thing would be to check out the truck so you know for sure what T Case is under it. I'm not super familar with the Ford stuff, so I may be wrong.

What motor is in it?

I want to go look at it but the fucker isn't calling me back. I guess either 1 the truck is already sold or 2 they don't want to sell it. I will try again today. It is in the AutoTrader so all I have is a #. In 86 did ford have the solid axle up front in the F350. I know on the F250 they had some i-beam stuff?

I could probably get a cheaper t-case but I found some rebuilt t-case for like $700 bucks. $2700 bucks for an OK truck isn't bad..

:smt003 '86 F-350 should have a solid front axle. What motor does it have? I'd offer him $1500 for it, that is if you can get ahold of him... :smt003
