Cool thanks all. I have noticed there are import and domestic ones and they seem to be 2x the price for domestic. Does anyone know if the domestic are worth the extra cash?

could just be high prices or there could be a steel quality difference. I like the mining supply store 'cause their shackles are rated for lifting, so they have a 6x safety factor instead of the standard 2x safety factor for towing. All 10k lbs shackles, straps, etc are not rated equally....

I buy my 3/4" shackles from Agri-Supply. Its pretty much a local version of Tractor Supply.

I also have some from Superwinch, and personally I think the ones I get locally are just as good, if not better. I know they're thicker.

Never had a problem with any of them.

I picked up a pair on ebay for $12. Made in China and I don't really like the look very much but I got them and they are at the powder coaters getting powder coated red to match my Jeep. I know I know, but hey I have a connection there so it is getting done for free.

Powder coating shackles is pretty pointless. After the first pull the paint is gonna be all fucked up anyway.

To tell you the truth the ones my friend has look great, we have pulled many times and they still look pretty clean.
