Hey guys, I'm looking for ideas here.

The problem I have is the temp sender I'm currently using is not very accurate. I'd like the fan to come on around 210* and shut off around 200* or so. I've tried mounting the sender in several different locations and it hasn't helped. The main problem is the sender doesn't react to that tight of a temp difference. It's a cheapo I got from Schucks, so I'm really not surprised.

I'm looking for suggestions on a good temp controller. Perferably something that takes the temp directly at the block or antifreeze vs radiator temp.

Anyone know if one like this would go in the radiator hose?

Hard to get one that reacts to 10 degree's of difference.....

I am pretty confidents that you could Hillbilly up a solution with taht thing.

Why not have it go off at 180-190 range?

Also Blackmagic and Permacool have sending undits with relays that I imagine you could use.

painless wiring sells a really nice kit for the thermostatic fan switch.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the on/off temp difference is on those adjustable ones.

The fan won't go off at 180-190* because the T Stat is 195*. I thought about throwing the 180* back in, maybe I will.

This one here seems to be pretty decent. There claim to fame is that it is within 1% accurate.

Why not wire it to a toggle, and turn it on/off when you want to? Works for me.

I gotta find a temp sender that'll work with my PIC. Going to custom code a PIC, use an LCD buttons and stuff to make a nice little unit.

The on/off thing works I guess, but why have the fan running 24/7 when it doesn't need to?

What's a PIC?

Personal Info Center or some shit. It is that stupid ass screen that tells you your door is open or your washer fluid is low.

Now if you rigged on up to tell you how much Air Pressure in the tires and the amount os slippage that would be cool

I dunno, that's VIC (vehicle information center)

I think mine needs to go away.

depending on who you listen to:
Programmable Interrupt Controller
Peripheral Interface Controller

16F877 - drive an LCD, some buttons, sample from a temp sensor, and control fan relays (all custom software by me of course)

I ran a 160 stat on an aluminum core rad the last few trips and a honda e-fan on a switch.... i barely had to ever turn the fan on.
