I've mentioned it before, but again, for what we do with it, why not use 1.5" square stock with a 1/4" wall or something like that for steering gear and just weld the nut on the end like it's done with LA links?

I used SCH 80 pipe and weld in inserts similar to you, but I'm starting to think that 1.5" or 2" square stock makes sense for this.....

i don't know.

i wanted to do stearing. i'v seen a few using 1.5x.25 dom. and well after seeing my other projects. build it once build it right i went with 5/16's. i wanted 3/8 wall but it was $26 a foot.

looks cool... as for the 1/4... I bashed my steering on some rocks last weekend and it held strong... You're going to love inverted T steering (aside from teh dead spot)

Why do you guys have Draglinks?

Because I can drive faster with one than you can with full hydro :D

And don't give me the 'full hydro can drive fast' speal, because yes, it can drive fast, but no, it can't drive as fast and as stable as standard steering.

I'll show you in Moab next year :D :D :D

That material should be good, mine is about that thick--not sure what exactly but i know its 1.5" .xxx sleaved with something else. It's a little bent, but it's taken some serious shots.

Since this got kicked back up... a few guys at NEUROC i talked to said that they ran SOLID shit... and just milled out the ends to accept the rod ends. Seems a little interesting to me. ...and even with that, there was one guy said he had solid arms for the 4 link front and rear....

Solid bar has less resistance to bending than hallow tube.

old thread now but i wouldn't want to use solid for a drag link. i have a solid on right now it is the stock ford 3/4 ton one and it is abotu the same diameter just maybe 1/8" smaller and i bent it on a rock. solid definatly doesn't have the same bending limits as hollow.
