if you did please list how you did it and what parts you bought to make it work.
i read somewhere you can use 3 batteries together to make one, when ifind the post i will link it on here for ya.

you can do some good 24v welding. 36v is good for cutting

I did the dual battery weld a few weeks back and it worked ok to get me home. Power/penetration was not a problem but the arc was all over the place and it was hard to see where your puddle was.
I am ordering a Mobi Arc 130 from my neighbor. After seeing him weld a D35 shaft together with one I was convinced it was a decent welder. They cost about 600 bucks and require a minimum of a 130 amp alternator.
It is called the Powermaster in the JP article. JP seemed to like it too.

a few friend's of mine run the ready welder II... they seem to like it
