well here goes, last year my wife totaled my 94 grand cherokee loredo, which i bought back. then i sold it to my buddy so he could build his project "grand tracker" we took the engine, tranny, t-case, and axles and put them all into a 95 geo tracker frame, man did this thing looked sick, all he needed to finish the project was drive shafts and he got frustrated and decided to quit, so we took everything back out of the tracker and put it all back into the grand cherokee shell, and now i have a new project to start.

first thing i did was get the full interior out of a 94 limited, 242 t-case, and the rear hatch and bumper stuff. next i am going to straighten out the rear that is all twisted out of shape by using a come along or just suck it up, and take it to a body shop and let them put it on a frame machine to straighten it the right way. then i am taking the RE 3.5 superflex lift off of my 98 5.9 and putting it on the 94 with a set of spacers. 33" Goodyear MTR's and goingot steal some ideas and build custom bumpers for it. when i am ready to tackle the project of building a long arm for it i am going ot swap in a ford 8.8 with rear disc's and i have a hp30 for it as well. i will try to load some images and keep you all updated. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/2/web/698000-698999/698398_2.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/2/web/698000-698999/698398_4.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/2/web/698000-698999/698398_3.jpg

matt you know you only live about an hour and a half from me, so i may just show up for some tool useage some day.

i worked on the exhaust today a little bit, putting a flowmaster muffler with a turn down tip at the end of the muffler instead of going all the way to the back and out.

i hammered out the dent a little bit the other day as best i could, the wife dont want that big dent still in it, so now i have to go up to the junkyard and cut the rear quarter out of the one up there and weld it in. me and a buddy of mine came up with our own frame straightener idea. i have some really huge pine trees in my back yard that we are going to attach the grand to one of them and then a come along to the other and attache the come along to the hitch and pull until the hatch will latch. i will take some pics when we are doing this on wednesday or thursday. i will also be welding up the rear track bar bracket this wednesday. then comes the lift kit, oh boy i cant wait to start that and get it done so i can wheel it. then comes the custom bumpers. damn this is going to be exciting. i will have to take lots of pics to try and keep up with everyone else's journal.

well i worked on the jeep today, i got the t-case in and the driveshafts in. i got the hew rear track bar bracket built and welded in the other day. we tried to pull the rear of the jeep over today with no success, so it looks like its gotta go on the frame machine. got the shifter and all the linkages hooked back up also today. i hope to get some pics of the new track bar bracket i built and welded up soon. i have to bleed the brake lines and it will be drivable, illegally of course for now, so it will have to stay in the woods. gonna start pulling the suspension of tomarrow so i can just slap in the lift in a few hours. will keep you posted.

LIAR! You were all into the flames until I said that flames are for FLAMERS!

But really, if you wanna do that paint job, do it. It's your jeep, not mine.

Unless you want to give it to me.

well i finally got it out on the trails yesterday to give her a test run. she did extremely well just like i expected. a local high school repaired all the damage to the body and pulled the uni body for 70 dollars and repainted what needed painted. let me know what you think so far. i have to finish the bumpers yet and mount my winch up front.

heres a pic from yesterday

Very nice, Thats almost exactly what i have in mind for my 93'

do you have extended bumpstops on that Sam?
If so, how tall are they?

bigrubbers4x4

cheenin, i have no bumpstops on it as of yet.

bigrubbers4x4
10-05-2006, 11:59 PM
97trxuszj, when i relocated the controls i had to cut out the VIC's internals with a dremel tool with a rotozip bit so all i had left of the VIC was the outer shell where it bolts up, next i had to modify the controls a little bit to get them to fit into the frame of the VIC then i glued the controld into the fram and bolted it up. i think the whole process took me like 3 hous if that.

i dont think your jeep looks the same anymore does it?

i decided to just keep the paint stock since the body shop repainted the damaged area the same as it was, and the fact that i am to lazy to paint anyway. now its just going to be silver and black.

Nice rig, I just bought a 1994 ZJ 5.2L fully loaded for $500 from the auction. I guess the guy who owned it was scared of the rear diff that needed replacing. Those mechanics sure know how to rip off unknowledable joe public. My plans are to throw in a GM 14 bolt rear ($1000 built) do a NP249 to NP242 swap, 38" tires, supercharger, chop off the back cargo area, rear tire carrier, roof rack, long arm lift kit. Then its time to abuse it :D

hello,

here is an update on "unwasted luxury", i have been out wheeling it for a few months now and it has done pretty good for me thus far. just some minor issues accept the t-case is now starting to take a dump on me, so its time to do a 231 swap. let me know what you think of it so far.

it is a control arm drop bracket, i plan on building long arms for it soon. i am building a house right now so money is kinda short for the jeep, so it will stay for now. it wheels well enough for now, i am looking for a good deal on rubicon axles or a set of old ford bronco ones.

ahh don't worry about it, i'm sure we all have something on our rigs that should be changed out, but hey money only goes so far so you gotta run what's in your options at the moment.

i am in the works right now of picking up a dana 44 front and 9" rear out of a 69 bronco for 400 smackers. i think that will be a good addition to the grand, what do you think?

bigrubbers4x4

well i scrapped the idea of the 44 and 9" out of the old bronco, and i am going to look for either waggy axles or some 60's.

here are some random wheelin pics i just uploaded to my photobucket.
