when i put my 98 5.9L in park and shut it off, if i am standing there you can see it try and move forward, it does this several times before it stops. the tranny is brand new, not even a year old, been doing this since i bought the jeep, did it with the old tranny in it as well, was wondering if anyone else ever had this happen to them? with or without the 5.9L. any help on curing this would be appreciated.

Mine does this too. It started this summer. Only after a long hard drive though. I was thinking it was something with the tranny though. After you saying yours is new though I don't have a clue now. A few other people on JU had a thread going but no one could give an answer

It must be a 5.9 thing. :D

my 98 4.0 does that too... I'll put it in park, pull the ebrake and then release the brake and the jeep kinda gently lurches forward

My 94 has done this a few times. Mostly it just clunks like hell when I put it in gear.

its all that power of those jeep v8's - the car cant take all of it when its moving so when the engine shuts off it gets rid of the extra- :finga:

My jeep does it too. How many of you have the Quadra Trac system. My guess is that its the front differential on mine still locked and unwinding. Haven't had the time to tear into it, but thats my best guess.
