Haven't looked at a ZJ close-up but does anyone think it would be possible to say, modify a prefabbed cage from a ZJ to fit a WJ. Was thinking since I don't have a bender that maybe I could look at that option.

Like perhaps an EOR cage http://www.essentiallyoffroad.com/kkuyt.JPG

Thoughts anyone? :?:

My buddy has a WJ.. But I dont have a full body on my Zj to measure for comparison.. I measure the roof and floor width of a ZJ and I can measure floor length. I guess thats all you really need..
Then you can compare those to your WJ.. But the floor (landing spots ) on the roll cage might be different.. I guess I can look...

Ill let you know if he makes it..

Actually, if you could take few measurements of critical areas of your ZJ, I could maybe see how those compare in my WJ :D .

I compared ZJ to WJ today and they are pretty close..
I think the ZJ was about 1" wider at the base and they where almost the same at the roof.. Overall length was about the same.. I didnt write down the measurements but I can remeasure if you want to compare on your own..

Thanks Carl, that gives me a good starting point. If I can't find access to a bender, I will definitely be looking at this option.
That being said, do you or anyone else have any recomendations on a cage?
Maybe Brandon will chime in with some words about his EOR cage.

Thanks again  .

I installed a cage from S&W race cars.. http://www.swracecars.com/roll_bars.asp

IT was a 10 point and we put it in a 79 SJ (fullsize cherokee) It fit perfectly and looked awesome... Very strong.. And cheap..
Its not listed in their list.. He called and gave them the demnsions.. The price was the same as the listed price for a 10 point... I am ordering my cage from there as well...

Here are pics of it..

Yes that was a cherokee before I cut it to pieces .. :D
We built a 3/4" plywood tonneau cover that lifts up on front and back.. And the fuel cell is under the center section ...

Anyway.. Its was a clean install and its a good looking cage..
And its a great price.. So anyway..

My input...

He is a super guy.. About to move to Sweden... Gonna suck to see him go..

That is Jeff Doing the final weld on the cage.. In the last pic.. I let him have the last 3/4" so he could say he worked on it...

I know Jim has one but his was a super-duper NHRA cage that was custom built. I'm looking for something easier that will still save my a$$ in a light rollover.
I've found a shop thats about 3hours away from me that does custom cages and builds chassis for circle track and super-truck. Gonna call them and see what they say for a custom job just to compare. Then I'll decide.

Dont forget about S&W.. They do custom stuff at the same price listed on their site.. $219 is cheap for a 10 point...
