Look for this on the Toyota forum of Pirate. They have a HUGE thread with all sorts of doors. I personally like using a stock skin and incorperating a cup holder....

I know a guy in the plexiglass industry if that's what you decide you want to do... I can get pretty good prices on it.. and that shit is practically indestructable too.

JC whitney had tube style doors shown for the SWB and I was wondering how had it would be to mod them for us. The mirror could be just welded on like the old chevy mirrors.

Of course, you'd want these for front and back.

To late ...Made my own..

I used a bar inside right at the bottom of my cut. (Sch 40) and 14ga steel to fill front and back. Then another bar in the center of my cut section that is removable .. SO I will have a little piece of mind when my daughter is riding with me..

This side is finished except for paint..

There is a huricane coming.. So I havent done any more work ... I have pics of the build up from the very begining but I havent gone any farther than that picture...

I have bent the rods inside the door to go around the cut out.. ANd I am going to try to cut the original latch into the lower part of the door..
I haveto build some kind of door skin.. I am thinking thin plywood.

I am also going to cut the outside handle down and put it back on the door..

I will keep you guys informed on my progress...

Thanks for the comments ..I am going to the grand opening sale now.. I need some new Dress slacks and I am all over that plaid jacket....

the good thing is I am pretty close to the city of New Orleans and the levys near me are 27' high .. IT looks like its turning towards Miss now.. SO hopefully it will be cool..
Thanks again for the well wishes..

I will keep my head down...

I wouldn't use plywood for a filler. It may not weather well and start to splinter and the thought of it splintering on an impact could be very hazardous to a passenger.

I was actually thinking 1/8" maple and carpet over it.. But I guess I will cross that bridge when I come to it..

Thats a good point about the splinters .. Never thought of it.. Maybe I should just pick up some more sheet metal and weld it on..

I have a pile of old diamond plate aluminum that I could use for some bling.. :D

I guess that is something that still needs a little thought...

Kinda my style to just do it as I go.. Not much planning lots of reverse engineering...

Gonna finish the paint tommorow and I will take some pics under the hood.. I have to Reconnect one of the cross braces that I cut out .. But the hood is not bad.... IT open and closes without problem.. But feels a little...I guess spongy is the word.. NOt solid enough.... I will fix that... I will get pics tommorow and post them up.. I also got my new seats mounted today.. I have to get pics of them as well..

Thanks I like the Z34 vents alot... They look like they belong there..

Gonna be selling a ZJ hood with Lebaron hood vents on it soon... I have to strip all the paint and prime it before I sell it.. But the Lebaron vents dont look as cool as the Z34 vents....

Quick story... I cut my stock hood for Lebaron vents and then left them outside.. Some one quickly relocated them so I was stuck with holes in my hood.... COuldnt find another set of Lebaron vents so, off to the yard I went, still no Lebaron vents so I got the Z 34 vents .Then I needed a new hood to put them in .. Then after I cut my new hood and put the new vents in... I find this around the corner and the guy is parting it out....
http://members.cox.net/importz/turbo.jpg

So I have the Lebaron Vents now as well and I am going to put them in the holes and sell the hood... :D

I think that will still look tight. Its better than ghey ass pickups with ram air vents and stuff on them...

Swamp boy

Here is a finished pic of the hood.. Some how I missed a stripe when I was taping... But I have already gone back and fixed it.. I have also wet sanded it and and ready to clear it..

http://216.77.188.54/coDataImages/p/Groups/94/94531/folders/169383/1247376IMG0003.jpg

Almost done ...
I know the stripes are asymetrical.. I didnt want it to look perfect and even.. I offset them on purpose... So none of your elitest comments are required.....
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
