JayDee,

What was the before weight?

I think the Touareg is that heavy without any of the armor, axles, and lift.

Let me see...
2004 Ford Exploder 4300 curb weight - 5700 gross weight...
2004 Grand Cherokee 3880 curb weight - 5150 gross weight...
2004 Lexus RX 330 4065 curb weight - 5245 gross weight...
2004 Volkwagen Touareg 5086!!! curb weight.

Well above all I'm glad my weight balance is decent. The rear of my Jeep is still heavy enough to keep good balance.

I assume most of my added weight is below the CG... another good thing... especially with the 10" wider track than stock.

It's not too alarmingly high... from stock 4300 lbs for the 5.9 to about 5000 now... considering what I've done to it... that's OK with me.

I assume you got the location of the COG above the ground? Did you just put jack stands under the front axle or something?

Thanks

I don't understand the question... I estimated the COG at around the top bolt on the bell housing... which seems to be about right.

I don't understand the question about the jack stands, though.

If you jack up the front end by putting it on stands you can find the COG height. You need to know how high the front end is up in the air and take a weight reading from the rear axle. That way you can find the amount of weight transfered to the back of the jeep with the front jacked up at whatever angle it is. You can then determine the COG height.

AH... no I didn't do that. I guess I could have, but I was just passing this Dairy and saw the scales and some guys standing around so I just did it on a whim. Maybe I'll try to calculate the real CG soon. Even if it is close to where I input it into the calculator, I'm happy.
