Ok since I'm being forced into my 44 swap now, I just realized I haven't thought about adaptors. Can I go from 5 on 4.5 to 6 on 6? I haven't researched, but I would imagine you can't go from 6 on 6 to 5 on 4.5 which would be absolutly ideal. Any suggestions? Maybe redrill 8.8 axles? Or hell, redrill 44?

Have the 8.8 shafts redrilled to 6 lug. I had it done on my 9" shafts.

Yeah but I dunno if 8.8 shafts would have enough space for it. Guess I can't do much but try.

ditch that wimpy 8.8 and pick up a 9" to go with the 44

 8.8 more than handles my driving.

Option 3: get a set of 5 on 5.5 shafts out of a bronco or 150 with a 8.8, have em cut and resplined for your mini 8.8, and have thoes drilled. or just order custom shafts for the 8.8.

It handled my driving fine too, but didn't match the 44 for bolt pattern or width. So the 9" was an easy choice.
You could build a 9 and sell the 8.8 and come out about even and have a better axle.
