OK, so last night at 2 a.m. it was raining so we decided to go wheelin. Hit hte trail about 3:15 a.m., and ended up breaking another Stuper-winch hub while trying to rally up this chute which is usually not too bad when it's dry. I used to run the cheap Warns, but switched to the superwinch's because they were free and have an easy lifetime warrenty.

So I"m tired of breaking hubs (5 now this year (2 warns, 3 superwinch)), who makes 44 slugs? With the twin stickies I'm not that concerned about unlocking my hubs. Are slugs cheap? Am I better to get the Warn Premiums?

I'll be running some Yukon shafts (yeah I know, yukon sucks, but at 280 for a full set they have to be better than what I have) before too long and I don't want to keep breaking hubs when my shafts can take some more abuse.

What ya'll think?

Those cheap 44 hubs suck. I don't know about slugs but I know that the Premiums last a much longer time.

do the Dodge slugs fit?
a lot thru the 80's had full time 4x4, with slugs on a d44.

Poly Performance doesn't make dana 44 slugs yet. I think some Wagoneers came with slugs and thats what most 44 people run.

If you're looking to try flanges: http://www.completeoffroad.com/products/i-439_drive_flange-dana_44.html

Yeah, from what I've gathered, most people are pulling htem off waggy's. I think the Warn premiums are like 180 bones, so if I can dig some out of a boneyard, I'll run the slugs.

Thanks for the input dudes.

Also, Im headed to the boneyard on thursday. I'll check when i go if there are any. Waggy's are pretty common around here.

okay, unsubstantiated info here, but the word on IFSJA.org is that the warn premiums aren't as strong as the regulars. I run warn premiums w/o any problems, but these guys aren't stupid. Anyway, here's a link to the latest thread about it:

I broke my warn standard hubs the first run I had them, broke the plastic dial off. The guy I got the standards from upgraded me to premiums for $25, and I haven't has a problem yet. I carry one of the stock ford hubs as a spare though...

I have the same problem with the Warn Prem's. i've broke the Right side the last 6 times I wheeled. Good thing they Warranty them. I take the Waggy Flanges with me as spares.. Never broke one.

Warn Prem. D44 Hubs usually run between $78 and $100 for D44.

I have spoken to several people who switched to Mile Maker hubs with better results. I think they were the Supreme, which I would guess cost the same as a Warn Premium
