Is there room to put coilovers on the front of a ZJ? I keep looking at the MC and it looks to tight...

Anyone have any pics???

Jason,
I had thought about doing that eventually if I dove tail the front end with full width axles and mount the coilovers along some tube that would be where the hood is now. That's the only way I've come up with to pull that off.

Yeah, just move some stuff. I've been toying with CO's up front.

PM Hal, he probably has some pics of how his big blue ZJ is set up for the coilovers up front.

It's not a RHD. it's a complicated steering set up because the front is a triangulated 4 link. I don't have a clue how it works, but that baja ZJ was posted on NAGCA and *gasp* JU. I really wanted to know how it worked.

Note the steering wheel:

Thats a great pic, I'm guessing the coiled hose is for the ARB locker. Hal, did you get any pics? I'm interested in the upper mount. Thanks,

Does anybody have anypics of how Travis had setup the coilovers on the ROCKNZJ's rig? I did a search on NAGCA and recieved nothing but red X's for pics and e-mailed them. But have yet to get a response. Anything would be great. Thanks.

Hal is on this forum too. I know he was trying to get some pics of the rig, but don't think he ever got them up.

Are those rubbers stuck in the coilovers? Guess its a new meaning to "shock boot".

I've toyed with the idea once i build my cage. but it would definatly mount to some point betweem the inner fender and the outer body panel. if i even keep the outer part.

Picked up the 16" SWAY AWAYS tuesday. I think they are the same ones ROKN runs. Does anybody know the spring rates ROKN runs for his dualrates? It maybe a little easier to dial them in. It would be cool to get some pics of the mounts? Since his rig is functional and works well, it would be nice to do something similar.

JpRngr

Are you running a 4-link front?

JpRngr
10-19-2004, 08:29 PM
I was. I've recently added a track bar. With my LA's, I wasn't able to get enough triangulation to keep the front axle in place enough to not effect my steering. Maybe if I would have triangulated the uppers also I could have gotten away with it. But I would have had to totally redo everything to make that happen.

Ok with coil overs How do they not destroy the shock while flexing?

Go look at a coilover in person. It will clear up this question.

I've heard more people complain about your Irok's than I have about SSR'S. Nice soft tread, grips very well.

Too bad the sidewalls suck and I blew 3 in 1 day at paragon...

wow, you raise the SSR's over Iroks, yet you blew 3 in one day at paragon?

There have been 2 guys so far that have switched from 37" ssr's to 36" iroks and love them. ...just my experience

So of course it's taken me forever to go out and get pics, so I finally have a free day and head out there, and the camera dies two pics in. So I must appologise for not having better pics, but hopefully these two will give you a little idea of how it's set up. The curved brackets are tied into the stock ZJ "Frame" by drilling two holes in it, sticking tubes through, welding them up, and welding the curved mount to them.

ROKN thanks for the pics, if you do get a chance to take some inside fender shots and the hoops in the rear that would be great. How high from the bottom of the unibody frame rails to the ground? The height you are running seems to work well and I want to be around the same, if not a tad lower. Finally started the tear down, no suspension under it now.
