i just found my axles- 77 f-150- if im not mistaken these use 1330 yokes and the zj uses 1310- is there an adaptor yoke out there? also with the pinion diffrences do i need to replace the shafts in order to run these axles? or can i get away with conversion yokes andthe stockers for now?- i dont want to do driveshafts till i get the tc i want with sye- (249's suck)

There is a U joint that is 1310 on one side and 1330 on the other.

I have no idea what the part number is though. When you find it post it here and I will leave the thread.

i would go to a local driveline shop as they wil have them alot cheeper. i got a spicer one for $40 and the shop put it in for me. i just gave em the measurments of the yoke on my d70 and brought my drive shaft in. did it while i waited.

My HP44 and 9" came with 1310 u-joint yokes stock. 1977 F150. I got a 3rd member already locked and geared for the 9" and just had to switch over the 1310 because it came with a 1330 (early 80s F150).

checker parts # 215-0134
napa part # 353

These part #'s are probably the wrong ones these are for stock 1310 joints that mount to a standard ford flange they just have a longer crosspin one direction. Wont work if the cups are different sizes.

if you're gonna use bastard conversion u-joints, don't ever go on a trail w/out a spare cause there's not gonna be anyone else you're wheeling w/ that's gonna have a spare 1330>1310 u-joint. i personally would just do it all at once....get your sye and new shaft now while you're doing the axles....why waste money on afro-engineered shit now just to have to redo it in a few months?

On the ford 8.8 the yoke doesn't cost you any extra at the junkyard and the joints are 10 vs 50 for the yoke hmmmm. BTW I have 3 spares. The real question is if you have a new rear drive shaft built why didn't you have a 1330 joint in the rear put on the drive shaft.

If you bust a bastard joint, just use a 1310, and wrap the two caps for the 1330 side in electrical tape

I'd agree with 'do it once, do it right' but if you want to go with the adapter joint, it's Spicer part # 5-134X.

theres god knows how many posts about this...

and D35 calipers are pretty much exact copies of Explorer calipers, so yes, you could use them....

Run the 1310 to 1330 conversion u-joint... carry a spare... blow the driveshaft (eventually)... get a new one with the 1330 in it... and have the old one repaired to carry as a spare with the extra adapter u-joint.

not trying to highjack this thread, but, did you use this adapter for your 5.9? i am swapping out the al44 and my new joint is a 1310 but i do not know what the al44 is. is it a 1330 is the jist of my question...someone help please!

I'm using the adapter joint for my front shaft at the T/case as it's a 1330 output yoke. My intention is to run the stock shaft for a while. I'm swapping in an 8.8/HP30 and a 241J at the same time so a new rear shaft will be required.

If I'm not mistaken the stock rear joints are 1310.

1330 is a ford joint. 1310's and 1330's are the same strength with teh same diameter cross and cap. Just longer legs. The problem with running a conversion joint is that they by nature are out of balance. I ran a 1310 to 1330 joint for 25K miles. No big deal. Just carry a spare and then give them to another jeeper when you swap drive shafts.
