I've checked into prices for obtaining 4340 inner shafts for my F-250 RC44. I have to go with blanks and have them cut & splined because the lengths are different than the F-150 stuff that Warn and everyone else makes.

My question is what's the average cost to have a machine shop cut & spline 4340 shafts?

Right now I'm looking at these costs and wait time for shipment:

Inner Long - 34.75" long 30 spline
YA W61554-4340L (36.25" long blank)
$91.59
635 on order not in stock

Inner Short - 18.625" long 30 spline
YA W61553-4340S (22" long blank)
$61.86
500 on order not in stock

These won't need cut and splined...

Outer - 9.72 long 19 spline
YA W38816 splined shaft
$63.03 in stock

Call Strange or Dutchman and ask. Also wagoner machine shop will do it.

Report back here with a price if you would and I will leave the thread. If not it is going to General in a day or so.

Spoke with Casey at WMS (I ordered my hydraulic steering ram from him)...

$60/shaft to cut & spline 4340's for under 10 axles being splined (discounted if more).

Have them dropped shipped from Randy's directly to WMS so there's no shipping involved going to WMS.
