Dates for GSSE will be August 2-4 at Harlan this year.

The majority will be camping in Evarts as usual.

We are going to go for the simple wheelin and Dairy Hut takeovers like last year so we won't be needing registration fees ect..

This event has more-or-less planned itself for the last few years and its worked well. If anyone has suggestions, lets hear 'em!

I heard there was a new trail cut in the Lions Den area recently and the possibility of more between now and then so thats exciting!

Chronic power loss under load. It's currently torn apart for an autopsy, some major maintenance and a few upgrades.

I go to Harlan every year with the Naxja guys now that I'm in a ZJ I might have to come to this too. Can't go wrong with middle rock garden, mason jar, and white tail. I've never stayed on that side if the mountain before though. We always stay at putney side at black mountain camp grounds. What's the coat to camp on this side?

the primitive camping is $25/site per night. The sites are large and can fit 4-5 tents and trucks per..

ATL ZJ

In this case the "primitive" camping described also includes water/power/cable hookups and the use of a bath house on site.

Tard Dong...I think I heard a rumor that he was the inspiration behind "T.D. Films." My rig is torn apart at the moment...been working on a new dash. I will be closing on my house around this time. As long as the finances are there, so will the rig. I've still gotta buy gauges, a new passenger seat, and gotta redo the whole trailer(had a car fall through the deck last week). If the money isn't there, I'd sure like to tag along with someone.

Waahoo, fired up the rig Sunday night finally. Down to the short list. Change t-case oil, paint, gear oil, put lights back on, tool boxes, swap a heim or two and maybe some skins. Been nut and bolting as I go and sure have been neglecting that. So this is my 3rd fuel pump configuration. It's now on the frame rail under my seat. Closer to the engine but a little further from the tank. Fuel pressure by my gauge is still not where it should be. 44 idle and jumps to 50 with throttle. Hopefully not the pump and just a dirty regulator. As bad as my injectors were I hope its as simple as cleaning the regulator too.

The old rock rails will go back on for the A pillar forward. I have plans to continue the tube work forward but I am waiting till winter. F - the heat. Actually its the humidity. Love having a window A/C unit but working an a small enclosed space can be smokey!

I just changed the oil in the tow rig thanks to dirk at 4x4oil on here.

It looks like we'll be there. Me in the f-truck, Barry with my evil twin, Jon with the one ton Sammy, and possibly my dads half ton bronco plus an ATV. I guess we'll just run as our own group since we'll be that big but if any stragglers want to ride with us that's cool.

We'll be staying in a cabin most likely for my dad but we will come hang out with the cool kids behind the dairy hut. I doubt Sean will be with us this year.

Well I got the rig mostly together, but am completely broke. Me and my girlfriends anniversary is coming up on the 27th and I got to move out by the 31st... We will see if funds and time allow it. I wish a trip to Harlan could be a 2 year anniversary gift but I'd probably get a karate chop to the nuts for that.

did barry get his steering bugs worked out?

Tim C
07-22-2013, 01:42 PM
I think we've got his bugs worked out. His pump died in the flatts from metal shavings from the broken steering gear tooth. He got a rebuilt pump that was bad in the box. Got another pump it lasted 30 minutes. Got another pump and rigged up a fuel filter as a steering filter. That pump works for now but a hydro assist line blew in half. He has replaced the hydraulic lines and all seems good now.

I've just got some minor maintenance to do on everything and I'll be ready to try out the rebuilt tow rig engine:)

It's nice to have my shitty driving and busted tow rig all documented in one place! :smt037

I'm just glad we made it home. The trip was fun but the trip home was not. Pearce thanks again for helping me fix it and doing the parts runs right before all the stores closed Sunday. The silver lining is I have dremel(s) to bring on wheeling trips now.

Hopefully it was just my turn to hear the pow sound and next trip will go smoother. A little more tow rig maintenance shouldn't hurt...

Fortunately the failure happened close enough to civilization to get to northern tool before they closed. Needless to say I'm glad it all worked out...

Holy crap. That is a pretty crappy return trip home. I guess since I wasn't there to break everything this year some one else had to do it. Lets not forget your stub shaft too. Thanks for letting me ride by the way. I have some videos and pics but haven't looked at them yet. Maybe I'll get a chance this week before my vacation again next weekend..sans jeep..again. Too bad it we didn't get any pics of the bottomless troll pit from saturday night right before everybody tried to drive off the side of the mountain on that grassy bit of non-trail. Was good to see everybody again. Maybe a flats run later this year?

Looks like fun (thought not the tow vehicle issues)! Maybe one of these days I'll finish by build and make it back down (though I need to actually work on it to finish it).

Sean, I enjoyed having you ride along and provide color commentary and a hand fixing some of the broken parts. Next time you guys need to stay at the campground so I don't have to drive carpool in the pouring rain. You lucked out though not having to deal with the tow rig repair. Post up those pics when you can.
