I am thinking about storing my jeep on my trailer at a buddy's place(ie in a field). Will this hurt the trailer? What should I consider or do?

I always thought the weight on the tires and springs could be an issue. I bought 4 trailer jacks at Harbor Freight, and welded one to each corner of the tariler. That way while I was storing rigs on the trailer, I could just have all of the jacks down.

It came in very, very handy, and made the trailer stable enough to drive the buggy on it without being hooked up to a truck.

I like Matt's idea. Bias ply tires (which I assume are on your trailer?) tend to flat spot when left unused for a while -- especially in cold weather (which I know you guys get in NC everyone once in a while). Being in a field, I'd recommend something to increase the footprint so the jacks (or jack stands would work, too) don't sink into the ground. A couple pieces of plywood under each may work well. I'd probably also air up the Jeep's tires probably close to their max psi (or put the Jeep on jackstands, too) as well and disconnect the battery.

With it being stored out in the field, I'd also be concerned with mice eating away at your Jeep's or trailer's wiring. This actually happened to a friends Jeep who keeps his TJ in the unpaved driveway of his cabin south of Buffalo. Now sure if/how this could be prevented, but just something to consider.

Thanks guys. I already have a jack at each rear corner and a 5 ton jack in the front center, so I will get some ply wood and take the pressure off the trailer springs and tires.

My friend has 2 trucks he stores on his trailer. No jacks. Has been doing it for years. Trailer doesnt seem to sag or anything of that nature.
